The devout christian Obama, right? Not a different one with the same name?
Oh and so the premise there is that if you don't let Christians (as defined by Santorum) define your rights for you (abortion, education policy of going against scientific evidence, etc), then the ONLY possible other thing that could hapen is that some giant govgernmenk initiative under Obama will do it? And in the meantime, christians (as defined by anybody, not just Santorum) have the right to worship and live and behave in whatever way they see fit. But that's not enough. We need to ALL be doing it.
ok.
You want a war on religion? How about we cut off Federal Financial Aid to students attending religious Uni's or Medicare/Medicaid funds to religious hospitals?
And fuck your tax exempt status too, ya ungrateful so and so's.
At war in my head are two basic notions that
A) This kind of rhetoric is wildly unconstitutional and unamerican, and frankly approaching the Frightening end of the scale, versus
B) Every generation sorta kinda seems to think this, right?
So far I'm still siding with A. This strikes me as a bridge too far. Bring it on, fuckers. This is still my country, not yours.
Nah, I read an article on Truman v. McCarthy last night, and EVERY ONE OF THE ARGUMENTS WAS THE EXACT FUCKING SAME as it is today.
Chris - I'll go you one more, not just tax exempt status, but let's enforce the real rules for 501(c)3 nonprofs and make them either give up their status (so even DONATIONS would be taxable) or not do shit you're not supposed to be allowed to do (political, etc).
That would be fucking amazing to see someone truly advocating that. (I wouldn't agree with it, because like shrinking the government or a million other things, it would be a drag on the economy.
