Adele has a fucking average voice. The only good performance was Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt. That one R&B guy mumbled a lot and fucked up a human jigsaw puzzle.

that skillrex/foo fighters horseshit was so godawful and I'm glad because it shut the fuck up all those dickheads that were in nirvana cover bands and love the foo fighters.

but seriously

that was probably the worst live performance i've seen since cursive/blood brothers.

why did they even bother to do that. It was just really embarassing.

Foo Fighters/ Skillrex montage thing or whatever it was is easily the worst grammy performance of all time. Nothing comes close.

and john mccartney's solo songs sound like he's a bad cover of leonard cohen with a less overproduced orchestra.

paper have you been looking at my online dating profile?

point being that if erykuh badu didn't even like it then who the fuck would especialy considering how bland all of the country musicians were INCLUDING the popular guy that played backup for a couple of meaningful country musicians while they all stared at a camera humming two chords and looking stupid at it while mumbling

fuck

same shit as indie rock these days except more socially inept.

fuck indie rock and country.

bon iver? really? almost as unredeeming as when arcade fire and wilco were nominated.

Bon Iver proved himself, for once & ever, to be such a stereotype when I read his comment in the NY Times about his Grammy experience. I hope he freezes to death in his daddy's cabin.

Best performance of the hour that I saw.
Glen Campbell still sounds the same as he did in the 70's. Sounds great.

I watched the whole thing and enjoyed most of it.

I mean, it's the Grammy's--I go in expecting more comedy than music.

Me too. Watched a majority of it with my 13 yr old daughter, the true target audience. There's not much difference between Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, and Glen Campbell in her eyes - they're all old dudes. Best quote of the evening, "Beach boys? More like Beach BUMS!"

A few thoughts:

Bon Iver sounded like a pretentious prick on stage. If you're so conflicted about winning an award, why go to an awards show?

Anyone catch Gaga walking out as soon as she lost album of the year? Couldn't even wait for Adele to walk off the stage.

I posted that Living Colour won the Best Country Artist Grammy last night, and received 4 msgs stating that I was wrong. I quickly deleted the folks that sent me msgs, 2 of which were cousins from Minnesota.

Ok. So I didn't see all of it, but I saw the "They Dead" montage and was it just me or was Etta James not included in all of that? Did they do something separate for her?

I mean, the Grammys are what they have always been, an industry circle jerk. I watched it and was entertained.

A couple comments:

1) Adele's performance made the likes of Gaga and Nicki Minaj look ridiculous by comparison. The Minaj performance was atrocious.

2) Chris Brown performed on a Q-Bert stage apparently and was equally bad. All is forgiven from the beat-a-bitch incident apparently.

3) Somewhere some kid has to be looking at the Foo Fighters winning like I did Jethro Tull winning over Metallica way back when. Blech.

4) The Glen Campbell thing was painful. Should've never happened. Him saying "where do I go" at the end and repeatedly speaking during the performance about his "choir" was just awkward. Let the man keep his dignity, or what's left of it.

She wasn't in it but should've been. Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt did a specific performance for Etta James early in the proceedings.

No, Etta James was in there. I'm pretty sure that I saw her.

I like hearing the Glen Campbell songs, without him and then with him. I didn't think he was that bad. Rose-tinted glasses for sure... I know what a badass player he is, but still, hearing how subtle and yet GOOD the songwriting was, it reminded me of how little respect I have for some of the other acts. I'm not the target audience, blah blah blah, still, sometimes a turd is a turd. Backflips on the Q-Bert set, and that fucking awful Minaj shit, just made me sorta chuckle. "You are not in his league."

The Beach Boys thing also reinforced my opinion the Mike Love is one of the worst human beings to ever live.

Adam Levine looked like he wanted to just run away standing next to him.

The Grammys have always been industry twaddle... and have always had "state of the culture" moments of interest. Anyone watching expecting more has an unrealistic view...

I knew little about Bruno Mars and I thought the James Brown moves were fun. Dave Grohl as representative of what's left of hard rock was sad. Springsteen's patriotioc/populist anthem was better live than on record, but he is looking out of the loop... Dangermaus was one of the only "hmm, that's kinda spooky..." moments in the show. Adele is much more middle of the road - albeit with a Dusty Springfield cockney drit - than Gaga (who didn't leave early, but was actually moving over to congratulate Adele's boyfriend) although Gaga seems pretty done. The Beach Boys was pathetic, with the only redeeming moment what Brian Wilson stood up trying to get out at the end as fast as possible....

...Glen Campbell confused, Brian Wilson confused, McCartney dyed and roughed and creaky, Springsteen fat and sluggish... only thing missing for the boomers was Dylan looking like Slim Whitman's corpse

But mostly where was the love for Don Cornelius...not even a picture.

THAT is the one that stood out to me, too.
