The reasoning behind this sort of thing (not to mention that the national average was over $4.00 the summer before Obama's inauguration) drives me absolutely batty. It is so outrageously idiotic that I actually struggle to even say anything coherent beyond a Louis Black flabbergasted stutter.

I'm a liberal, and I am liberal enough that my complaint with the Democrats is that I find them far too conservative. But, I still have sympathy for non-insane Republicans about what's happened to that party. There used to at least be a group of Republicans I could disagree with but respect. That's just not so much the case anymore. Sad really.

I'm glad I don't have any big family gatherings coming up where I have to contend with my hardcore catholic cousins who are pumping out kids left and right before their 30's and who are all up in arms about Obama's contraceptive policy. I know they'd vote for Rick Santorum in a heartbeat for his pro-life (I slept with a dead fetus) stance.
And remember Foreign Oil doesn't exist. It is a fallacy we like to promote rather than face the fact that big oil companies who refine a substantial amount of the world's oil here in this country control most of the global oil market.

As a Christian, I can tell you its quite troubling as to what's said about *each* candidate and why or why not people wouldn't vote for each.

That's just a cross-segment of the entire populace in "the church", and to be honest, I know more people at churches who voted Obama than McCain in the last election. In my opinion there's just a lot of people who don't know who to vote for for because there really isn't an exceptional choice in any direction. I'll be interested to see what the voter turnout in November will look like. Also, keep in mind we're not all sweater vest followers.
