He's the new Freddy Adu!

It's absolutely fucking ridiculous that 11 year olds are under contract to any football club. I'm a bit surprised by this but I was sure that you couldn't contract Under 16 players.

Anyway I'm sure this kid will never play a single match for Chelsea or even at professional level so you might as well clutch the money and laugh uncontrollably .

You're boys are having a good season, Darrin. More improvement to come or punching above?

*I'm just looking at 20 quid down on a win against Inverness. 6-4.

I'm a little late to the party on this one.
I'm taking part in an EPL fantasy League organized by a local bar/FC. It is my first year of doing so, and I'm hovering just above the relegation line at this point. I have yet to use my wildcard, and just starting to score some quality points from my strikers.

I haven't been able to watch much of the last two Group stage match days for the UEFA Champions League due to work, but I was lucky enough to see the Man U/Man City game this past Sunday. It was great seeing Man U get absolutely trounced at Old Trafford, and the win by Man City puts me on top of a bet right now.

I'll be interested to see if anything comes of this anti-foreign ownership movement in the British Parliament, now that most of the foreign owners seems to be backtracking from their alleged opposition to relegation.
Those of us stateside who follow the sport don't want to see American owners turn it in to something that resembles any sports league here in the states.

So, anyone know much about this guy? Signing for my boys.

Quote:
Although Neal Kitson was born and raised in New York City, his parents grew up in England and it's where he always has wanted to be called a professional "footballer."

That dream came true on Thursday.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper who spent the past two seasons playing for the Rochester Rhinos signed with Northampton Town Football Club in England's fourth division. The signing is pending international transfer clearance.

Kitson re-signed with the Rhinos last fall, but had a provision in his contract allowing for a free transfer to a Major League Soccer or European club before Feb. 1.

"It's an opportunity for me to earn a long contract in England," Kitson said. "These few months are an opportunity for the (Northampton) manager to see if he thinks I'm capable."

The English season will end by early May, but the Rhinos and new coach Jesse Myers have no interest in bringing Kitson back after the USL PRO League season has started. Rochester opens April 14 at Los Angeles.

"This was his goal in life. That's what Neal wanted, so I wish him the best," Myers said. "We knew this was a possibility, so I've talked to all the goalkeeper coaches I know in MLS, including (D.C. United's) Pat Onstad, so I'm sure I can get someone of the same quality, or better.

"This leaves us with about 150 choices with all the goalies in this country. This will not be difficult."

Myers is scheduled to leave today for the USL Combine in Tampa.

Kitson said he'll be a backup keeper at Northampton. He thanked the Rhinos and their fans for their support. He was the full-time starter all of last year, a second-team all-league pick and Goalie of the Year finalist. His 12 wins tied for tops in the league and his nine shutouts were tied for second.

The former St. John's star went 21-13-5 with 16 shutouts for the Rhinos.

"I've always wanted to try to go to the highest level and the last two years definitely helped my chances," Kitson said. "(Former Rhinos coach) Bob Lilley brought a lot of good out of me, and I met some great guys in Rochester that are among my best friends."

I'm loving Northampton this season.

If you are doing an accumulator, you just pick the team Northampton are playing and forget about it - its in the bag. It's like getting an extra team on your line for nothing.

PS - I feel your pain.

Hey we have just signed Clarke Carlisle and he's been on question time.

Lionel Messi had his first hat trick in international play today as well. I can't wait for the war of words between Maradona and Pele over this occasion. :wanker: I'm glad France and the Netherlands were both able to hold on to win, although the Dutch broke a late tie to regain the lead.

As for the American victory, I couldn't be happier about it, but it really isn't that big of a deal outside of the fact that it proves Klinsmann is the right man for the job and that Clint Dempsey is by far the best player on the team. I'll be more excited if we dominate the Olympic qualifying tournament and beat Mexico in the Championship game in KC.

didn't know the C-game's in KC. tix for the us-guadalupe gold cup match last year started at $120 - i couldn't imagine the tix would be south of $150 for that match-up. livestrong stadium is pretty sweet, though. go sporting!

I think Scotland's next game is against the USA....

USA takes a 1-0 over Italy in Italy. Dempsey with the goal.

Both teams were missing some key players.

Yeah, the game is being played in Jacksonville, FL on May 26th.
They had mentioned having it played in the Midwest, so I was hoping for KC at that point, but then the Semifinals and Finals of the CONCACAF Olympic qualifiers got scheduled in KC for late March and Early April. I don't know what sort of squad the USA will field against the Scots, since they play Brazil four days later, but they need to be ready for the start of World Cup qualifying as well.

We have a very defensive, complete fanny of a coach these days so I wouldn't expect a win away from home....well ever. I can also see a great raft of players pulling out of the squad since it's basically the end of the European season and they all want to go on vacation as soon as the whistle blows on the last league match. So can't see us having a first choice squad either.

Might be one to go down to the bookies for. I think, off the top of my noggin, most of the recent results between the two have been draws...always good odds on a draw!

I was actually fooled by Northampton's recent revival and put them on my coupon. If you cost me £235 then frankly you deserve to go down.

Anyway probably the biggest game in the history of football on Saturday when we play Rangers at Fir Park - could it be 3 points and another step towards Champions League football for the mighty 'Well?

Can the team with the best home form in British football (move over Manchester City) tweak the nose of ailing giants Rangers? We'll probably bottle it but you live in hope.

Death or glory. Come on ye 'Well!

All I know is if the US can't beat Canada and El Salvador to qualify for the Olympics maybe we really should just stop trying.

Your impetuous response reminds me of the English after this event.

With England's roster matched up against the US roster, they should have been embarrassed to lose to the US.

Saw a rumor that Arsenal could make an offer for Dempsey. Dempsey as a gunner would make me very happy.

Our new/rookie yank keeper has saved two penalties in his first two starts for the club. He looks very impressive, we need to act quick and get him tied to a longer contract.

I almost joined in with the U.S.A. chant that broke out around the stadium last night. Almost.

Nice little article after his debut on bbc sport site.
