Responses to the Breitbart death (internet-wide, not specifically here on Obner) clearly illustrate why I'm equally disturbed by both extreme ends of the ideological spectrum. Those on the far right are putting forth the ridiculous conspiracy theory that Obama had him killed, while those on the far left are despicably reveling in the end of another human's life.

Frankly, it's beyond the pale.

In fairness, Breitbart's respose to Ted Kennedy's death, then his occupational homicide against Shirley Sherrod, kind of bring it on him.

But, yes, he did leave a wife & four kids, & you grieve for them. But, only for them. (It's a bit like, to put a personal spin on it, finding out my ex-manager at Gilles's Frozen Custard blew his own head off. (True story, though I found out four years after it happened; previously, I knew he had died, from happening for one of the few times in my life to peep the death notices in the local paper back in summer '01, but figured his was a tragic cardiac death in sleep (guy was only 42 years old).) I have no sympathy for my old boss, but the wife & sons he left behind -- I ache for them, widowed, fatherless, & having to know what an a--hole their husband & father were.)

Reveling in someone's death makes you a fucking asshole no matter what your politics are. Justifying it because of some sense that the dead person either A. deserved it or B. brought the reveling on himself because of their actions is even worse, especially when the actions are basically being the Vince McMahon of the right wing is even worse.
