Zigg was funny and has some good scenes for one season...but this isn't even fair.

Ziggy's performance in Generation Kill redeemed him for me a bit, but not enough to beat Omar. Sorry Zig

I actually never thought Zig was as annoying as many fans did, especially because I like Season 2 more than most.

Also, Zig reminds me of Cotton.

On a surface level Omar is basically The Wire's Boba Fett.

On a deeper level he appeals to people because by operating outside even the morality of drug dealing, never mind the law of society, he represents a mythical form of freedom that can never really exist except as a concept.

He is also a deeply religious figure. He represents the wrathful God of Judeo Christian tradition smiting evil doers.

By representing a sort of chimerical freedom as well as the will of a real and interventionist God he taps into the two most established ideas in American culture.

Ziggy, on the other hand, is just an asshole.

You mean the moment when he completley fucked his life up?

I openly hate Ziggy. A born loser with no redeemable qualities who shot himself in the foot at every turn.

The village idiot.

Yeah but that guy did deserve to be shot. Ziggy's life was a waste anyway.

It's pretty much Ziggy's fault that Frank had to die, though, and for that he's irredeemable.

you guys will just go along with Obama on anything, won't you?

I agree with the outcome here, but for the sake of argument, I'd say that when you factor in the last 2 seasons, Omar's stock drops considerable. You could tell that the writers would've killed him off early in S3 if it wasn't for his popularity. Ziggy, meanwhile, is limited to a single season (with maybe a cameo in S5, I can't remember) and almost from the first frame doesn't shut up.

I don't know, I guess it's easier to make a quiet person look like a badass than it is to make a cartoon character believable as a real person.

I agree with this vote, but I was never a Ziggy hater. He had one of my favorite lines "Even if we walk it down to White Mike"
