what's more amazing: how badly the cowboys are getting their asses kicked; or the fact that they're actually in contention for a playoff spot given their season has been a series of lowlights?

Just waiting for the tears to roll when the Pack loses in the divisional playoffs. All one can do is hold his breath when the opposing team passes because the secondary is borderline absent. And the GB running game has picked up as of late; but up against a team like New Orleans with a great passing and running offense, I don't think the GB offense will be able to keep pace. Either way, Go Pack!

I'm disappointed the Falcs are going to Jersey instead of Dallas next week--the Cowboys seem to find ways to shit the bed in big games whereas the Eli-Giants always seem to find a gold nugget buried up their asses at just the right moment.

Aside from a couple of random injuries though, I feel like we are playing our best ball right now. That didn't mean dick against the Saints last week but hopefully will in the playoffs. Time for Matty Ice/Corch My Smiff to win a playoff game.

I'll take either of the Saints, Falcs, or Giants to rid us of Green Bay. If Detroit can put up that many points, Brees should be able to throw for 700 yards and eight TD's.

i'd like to personally thank the NFL for scheduling the epic New Orleans/ATL matchup last monday night during my Fantasy Leagues Championship week. Down 50, i got 70 from the likes of Drew Brees, Marques Colston, Roddy White + Tony Gonzalez!

Unlike Spygate, this extends well beyond one team. Via Gregg Williams, alone, three teams are implicated -- Buffalo, Washington, New Orleans (& you have to wonder about Tennessee, though GW wasn't there when Albert Haynesworth went buck) -- & other, non-Gregg-affiliated teams have been suggested as bounty-hunters, too. (Oddly, not the Raiders. Yet. (Guess they really did lose a step.)) So, no one on Obner -- cough, Flying Rabbit & his Ravens fandom, cough (I could see Ray-Ray putting out bounties, or Ed Reed, or Rex Ryan being down with it) -- wants to venture to disparage the Saints, then have to eat crow. A heaping helping of (un-drinky) crow.

Anyway, the one & only time a bounty was necessary was Bernard Karmell Pollard's takedown of Tom Brady. BKP should have been given the key to Kansas City, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Miami, New York, & Baltimore after that.

Well, since you called me out, I suppose I need to address this. So far the Ravens have been mentioned by ex-Suns reporter Jamison Hensley (now of the 'spn). And, his blog posting was so absolutely filled with speculation that I can't believe it got through any editorial gatekeeper. My question is, not even former members of the Ravens are implicating them, so just because a team plays aggressive football automatically makes them a target? With that reasoning, any team that wins the Super Bowl must be spying on the opposing team, right?

I make no promises that something won't come out--but right now it doesn't look like it. Also, the team definitely targeted players, but which team doesn't for strategy reasons? It wasn't a cash-for-head type of deal like is being set up in NO.

From what I've read and seen, it goes on in some form all over the league. The Saints will be made the scapegoat by Goodell, though, because they, as someone else put it, "pulled back the veil." At least it looks like we're gonna sign Randy Moss. That should help.

i laughed, ft. re: the bounty nonsense - per ronnie lott, shit's been going on for years & i'm certain this isn't the first time we've heard this noise. media has nothing to report. nfl's been aware of this unspoken (& quite possibly integral) part of the game much like mlb's knowledge of PED use in the late 80s-00s. i've been pleased with the product.

i think peyton goes to the team with the best O-line.

explain how extending beyond one team makes it different from spygate? the patriots were the only team taping coaches signals, were they?

Can't prove a negative, but I don't recall any other teams getting caught up in it.

i feel comfortable extrapolating given the number of former coaches, e.g. bill cowher, who said they had no problem with it
