Yeah, that one busted more than a few brackets, just depends how far you had Mizzou going I guess. I knew I should have gone with Marquette in that sweet sixteen match up.

I'll happily take a busted bracket to see that.

I might buy one of those Baylor jerseys just for whenever I work on a busy street.

FT, I think PopTodd, GrapeRipple, & OneBrownJeff should file a class action against you on behalf of the Missouri Alumni Association.

Also, apart from SEC football rooting LooGAR, did the KU fans at the Omaha games chant "S-E-C!" as the Tigers of Columbia lost in hilarious fashion?

I wouldn't be surprised if they did along with the numerous Husker fans in attendance. The comment sections in the KC Star and Omaha World Herald stories about the game were pretty brutal. Although some Jayhawk fans were rational and sympathetic, since they have been upset by Bucknell and Bradley recently as a #3 and a #4 seed in the first round recently, and to Northern Iowa in the 2nd round as a top seed in 2010.

If it had been Colorado (former Big 12) or Texas (big-timing the Big 12), I would agree that KU partisans would react with mildness to an upset at the hands of a Norfolk State, but, come on -- KU-MU is blood rivalry. There is no mercy.

Plus, this will prolly be Mizzou's last time to be seeded that high. Florida, Bama, Kentucky, & at various times LSU, Miss State, Georgia, & Vanderbilt are going to mess them up. (Won't be quite as large a fall as the Tigers football team, but...) Basically, I'm saying, MU fucked up. & I imagine Frank Haith knows it, &, even with the possibility of sanctions at Miami, wishes he would have stayed in South Florida.

(I will give Missouri this, though: they were in a bind. Not so much they couldn't have stayed in a reconstituted Big 12 (KU, MU, Iowa State, K-State, &, maybe, BYU & Boise State in a reformed B12North; Texas, Tx Tech, Oklahoma, Okla St, Baylor, &, maybe, New Mexico, in a reformed B12South), but the Big 10 abjuring Mizzou, even with the possibility of a Cubs-Cardinals style rivalry between the Tigers & Illini, is inexplicable. I would much rather that than Nebraska-Iowa. (By the way, if NU gets Rob Jeter to take on the basketball job, you're getting good.))

Perhaps, but I also picked two guns tommy's bubbletastic alma mater NC State to make the Sweet 16, and VOILA!

In a bizarre twist, I am somehow inexplicably tied for first in a 15-player bracket pool at Mexican Junior's office and tied for second in a 41-player bracket pool at my office.

I still have 11 of my Sweet 16 intact, 5 of my Elite 8, and 3 of my Final Four (including both title game participants).

Could the human jinx actually be the most accurate predictor of all???

My hopes are riding on Kansas & Marquette pulling thru to the final four, & MU getting to the title game.

Still won't win, but at least save face.

This is what I'm hoping for. Perhaps NU could get back to the NCAA Tourney again someday (just to lose in the first round, but hey, I'll take it).

Oh, and Go MARQUETTE!!!

WHAT UP. I had them in the Sweet 16 as well (and not just because I am a bit biased). I honestly forgot how much fun it is to have a relevant team during March again. With State/Kansas scheduled as the last game on Friday, this is going to be the longest week in recent memory. In the meantime, work will likely suffer a bit as I soak up any and all information that I can get my grubby little hands on about the Wolfpack.

In a just world, as with Joe Namath & the '68 Jets, Jimmy V & the '83 Wolfpack have expended all the karma that program ever deserved.

What's all this about? As a McGuireist, do you hold a grudge about the '74 State team beating Marquette in the championship game? State has been so bad-to-mediocre for so long this type of comment is kinda weird to me.

Kansas=Kentucky in my book, and the rest of the SEC besides Florida isn't any tougher than Baylor, K-State, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Texas and A&M have been in years past.
If Missouri has a collapse it has more to do with them being a pretender this year than it does conference difficulty, since the Big 12 had a better conference RPI than the SEC.
As for Nebraska, I'm hoping they go with John Groce of Ohio, who has been a rumored candidate due to a positive recommendation by Frank Solich.

Nebraska initially targeted Ben Howland of UCLA, and interviewed Scott Sutton of Oral Roberts today.
Rob Jeter, Shaka Smart, John Groce, Gregg Marshall of Wichita State and Tim Miles of Colorado State are also the Husker's short list of candidates.

Shaka would be beyond stupid to go from VCU, where basketball is the big cheese, & a team he took to the Final Four, to Nebraska, a third-tier basketball school in a conference with little room to advance, & more, a campus that is all 'bout foobaw. He wouldn't be much smarter to take the ILL job.

Or, put simply, would a coach rather be Dan Monson or Mark Few?

(Anyway, if shit is as fucked at UCLA as advertised, Howland prolly moves to Lincoln. His street-fighting ball, honed at Pitt, will prolly play better in Big 10 than PAC 12.)

There is a zero percent chance of him going to Nebraska.
