I wrote three lengthy paragraphs of overthought analysis regarding this EP(?). I wasn't aware of its existence until 30 minutes prior. And then I deleted everything I wrote because I realized it was a complete waste of your time.

I listened to all six songs twice through. Realized that while they are not brilliant or interesting, they are directed at uniquely-fidgety 16 year old girls and forever-single 20 & 30-year-old broads.

I think the Jewel comparison is spot on. Aforementioned comparisons are relevant, but how and where this album appeals makes it most similar to Jewel; although she does have some Gwen Stefani tits.

We're this bored that we have to give consideration to this as something more than a contrived and "insightful" change of pace marketed at people who exclusively listen to corporate radio? It makes sense why it works there. Why it ends up as a serious discussion does not. Unless we were just joking all along! Right? We weren't... but still.
Who gives a shit? Better than another sports thread, right?!

And now since we have precedence, can we discuss the merits of the new Avril Lavigne record?

j/k!!!

Pretty much every criticism you have ever written here can be summed up as "I'm not the target audience, it sucks."

Music for teenage girls....hmm. Yeah, that can't be brilliant. Fuck that Elvis guy.

I'm clearly not making the comparison. Rather discussing that music can be directed to teenage girls and still be good by using Elvis (I could have used the Beatles just as well) as one of the more well known examples.

But this Lanal del Raynal isn't good, IMHO; and thus your point doesn't apply here.

Lily Allen, though she was interesting at least.

Video Games is a good song. It doesn't matter if it was written on a buzzing one-stringer.

On track to be the UK's number 1 album, currently outselling the rest of the top 10 combined.

Six tracks in: I really like the production (especially on the title track) and some of the ideas, but it's a lot less immediate than my fave lady-led releases of last year (Lykke Li, Adele). Just not sure how much it will gel or stick. My friend said it feels more like a collection of singles than an album, and for the moment I can get behind that.

And, for the record: fuh.

All we need is a little patience... Axl Rose n' Lana del Rey maybe dating.

In nine months, might our Saviour be born?

They will name their first-born son Zack de la Rosa.

He will lead a peasant revolt to bring democracy to China.

Alex Pappademas is writes beautiful[ly].

From the linked commentary: "[Axl] looks weird, but not that weird. John Jeremiah Sullivan observed in 2006 that the version of Axl who resurfaced to play comeback shows that year looked like 'the monster from Predator, or the monster's wife on its home planet,' but here he just looks like Porn Industry Morgan Spurlock, or Ron Livingston's neighbor from Office Space, the guy who says what he'd do if he had a million dollars is "two chicks at the same time," or that guy if he'd had and burned through more millions and sailed around Cape Threesome more times than you or I have been to the post office."

Porn Industry Morgan Spurlock! (Soon to be an Odd Future alias?)

Also: given the choice, if I'm Lana, better to dance with Bill Bailey than Brian Warner. The eventual break-up/recombination album will be better, less damaged, but more... Incisive.

Also: when that album hits, & Lana appears with a buzzcut, looking like Agatha from Spielberg's adaptation of Minority Report -- OBNER!

Oh, & the Christ-child to emerge from a LanAxl coupling -- definitely a ginger. This could be a good or bad thing. But for sure awesome.

True. To wit: "November Rain" -- > "Estranged" -- > "Don't Cry" is a suite about Dan Marino's Isotoner endorsement deal.

Which would explain Dan's appearance in the song & video for Hootie's "Only Wanna Be with You".

Cracked Rear View is, itself, an allegory of General Sherman's own "appetite for destruction".
