With Wikipedia and RYM and other resources around, I hardly ever use AMG anymore. It doesn't help that the site is so ugly and slow.

Anyway, they sent out links to the beta version of the new design:

http://beta.allmusic.com/

Seems like an all-around improvement to me.

Some new features it reportedly sports:
Quote:
Full Track Streaming – Anywhere you see Spotify or Rdio logos you should be able to click through to that service and hear the whole song.
Improvements to Search - Type-ahead search, multi-content search, persistent search at the top of the page and other improvements.
Similar Albums - Recommendations for other albums to check out.
Sorting Discographies – You can now sort an artist's discography (and other lists) by year, title and editorial rating.
The AllMusic Minute – Editorial video previews of this week's new releases and discussions of music as presented by our staff of music experts

That is a lot better. Thanks for the heads up, I too rarely ever use the site anymore.

I use it a lot, and it looks like AllMovie.com is already beyond beta stage: http://www.allmovie.com/

I still used it almost exclusively to look shit up, despite being annoyed by all the things you mentioned. Much needed improvements.

This.
But I am glad that they are making improvements.

i use amg every day.

it's never slow for me, and i like that the interface has not changed much. i'm one of those people that gets annoyed by changes and updates. streaming music though sounds like a good thing.

one of the things i don't like about amg though is the search function can be a bit wonky. if i take the time to type in the EXACT and COMPLETE album name it comes up fine, but it sucks that you can't "be close" or shortcut it because it never gives you what you are looking for that way.
