"Lords of Dogtown" is the fictional take on the documentary "Dogtown and Z-Boys." I saw the trailer before Sin City this past weekend. My question is: Was the original documentary not good enough? Heath Ledger as Skip Engblom? They even manage to screw up quotes from the real guys, and use some of the same tired music from the original doc (except for the sappy Green Day song). Why is Stacy Peralta even involved in this? (Okay, I know why-- moolah-- but Stacy, please).

So I'll probably wait for video to see this, but just curious if any of y'all are interested.

Original documentary info can be found here.

Yeah, I saw the same trailer before Sin City, and I thought it looked pretty bad.

The original doc was neat.

Doc was awesome this looks meh

Too bad this country refuses to watch foreign films & docs and instead waits for Hollywood to redo them

This movie has all sorts of potential for awesomeness in the Goodfellas/Blow story arc of fascination/corrupyion/downfall/rationalization, none of which it will reach. I'mnot against making a ficion movie based on a doc, but I am against a bad fictionmovie based ona doc. Overacted, cheesy ass dialogue, etc..they should have had enough examples to lean on to make this rule. And I agree on the music. there wasn't enough late 70s/early80s punk in LA to mine for the sdtk?

Everyone associated with this should be killed.

This I would see, esp. since they didn't delve too much into those guys in the original Dogtown doc. Hosoi and Cab were like kings to a lot of the skate punks at my school.
