Yeah, this kind of thing always causes a lot of fighting. Still, despite many boneheaded inclusions and just as many baffling exclusions (no Richard Thompson?!?!), this is one of the more-interesting lists of this type that I have seen.

http://www.spin.com/articles/spins-100- ... ime?page=0

Have at it.

Didn't Rolling Stone do this too?

I am patiently waiting for the first magazine or blog who does a feature on the 100 greatest keytarists.

I somewhat applaud not having the same old sacred cows (Jimi, Duane, etc) up at the top and being more current but Skrillex?? Jam Master Jay in the Top 10??

I refuse to take that leap with them.

Look, as far as we know, our asymmetrically coiffed party pal has never held a guitar in his life.

Stopped reading right there.

I'm on the side that finds it refreshing to have a list that ignores the sacred cows that I generally don't like anyway. But really, you're wanting to get all punk or alternative or whatever you wanna call it and not mention Steve Jones? Good list to shine a light on people often ignored, but as inevitable plenty of deserving folks still left out. Just figured Jones was the most glaring example from the whole direction they were supposed to be going with this one.

I think it's great to have a list that includes people who don't even play guitar.

Wait, no I don't.

...in a similar vein, what about Keith Levine?

Maybe they hate Johnny and it's guilt by association

So multiple people can count as a single "guitarist"? I say bullshit. Pick one and go with it.

...so they picked people who don't play guitar on a list of great guitarists? Am I reading that correctly.

REVOLUTIONARY - I'll take 15 copies right now.

I wouldn't mind having a normal keyboard that had that thing on it that allowed him to do trills and shape the notes as he was playing, but I wouldn't ever use a keytar, and don't understand the point of making a keyboard sound like a guitar, other than youtube videos I guess.
