Apparently he released some new songs last month: made them available for download and then promptly took them down for some reason or other. And I missed it. Something "beyond Emitt's control." Must be contractural.
Anyone able to grab the 3 songs that were out there?
New songs are: "What's A Man To Do" "This Wall Between Us" "Just Me and You" Damn.

Guests on the album include: Richard Thompson, The Bangles, Keith Olson, and... wow.

I can't find them for download now, but there is an interview with his co-conspirator here. And, they play the songs, too.

So, at least we can hear it.
Interview starts at around 15:00 in.

First song starts at 22:30 ("What's a Man to Do?") and features Richard Thompson on guitar.
Listening now and it sounds like 70s soft rock with RT on guitar. Guess that I shouldn't be surprised.

mmmh, I think I found out why the songs have been taken down:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/36 ... 0&tstart=0

28k dollars.
Emitt's business sense is somewhat distorted, but I wonder what this man got from taking down the songs. :-(

You would think that he would want the songs up, let Emitt make some money so that he can pay his bills.
By the way, welcome to the discussion, Jean. It's nice to see someone new here who is not a street teamer.

Pretty weird story. Looking at the apple BB thread, his accounts statement shows 140 invoices for exactly $200 each. Looking at the studio's website, they charge $50 per hour. So I guess he did 140 recording sessions of 4 hours each and they invoiced him individually for each of them and he never paid on any of them. Seems a little strange that they'd invoice him for each session and then allow him to get so far behind. And after 560 hours of studio time, he just has 3 songs. And then the studio posts on an apple bulletin board asking for advice? Hard to say that the studio has any better business sense than Emitt Rhodes does if this is all true. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for this new album to come out though in any case.

Seems even stranger, considering that Emitt is known as an engineer and producer, himself. He recorded his early albums, himself and, from what I've heard, records local bands at his home studio, as well. Why not just record himself, there?

Thanks Todd,
I actually stumbled upon obner.org while googling for those songs, after waking up at 6 in the morning to watch the "one man beatles" documentary on Italian TV.
Will stick around for a while :-)

Cool.
Post some stuff in those "6-Pack" threads so we can get to know you a bit. Those are fun: 6 albums from the designated year that define the year for you and/or are your faves from that year.
