These guys running a class about cyber-warfare gave students an unfair test, memorizing 100 digits of Pi in one night, but asked them to cheat and not get caught. It's a long video, but they outline the experiment around 3:15 and the examples of methods students used to cheat start around 4:30. There is some very clever stuff in here.

Did they PLAN to outline the experiment around 3:15, or is that a really bizarre coincidence?? Better go watch the video to find out for myself :)

So I went through stuff at my folks house and realized, "Damn I got some cassettes in my old room." So I discovered an old cassette with all of 3 worthy songs on it . Opened it up and blew on it , tweaked the wheels a little, and took it with me in the car. I have no reason to resurrect a cassette but my old car has a virgin player. Crazy thing is my son[8] who I had with me for the day had never touched nor seen a cassette.

Patton. Ever seen one of these.
That?
What are they called?
It's a uhhh . . . I dunno
It has music in it. It's on a tape. Here, look at it.
Ooo. Ok?
Well, check this out.
[put in cassette,(rewind, hear the tape wheels grinding) stops , I push play
we listen while I drive, he reads the liner notes, he likes it but thinks it is weird to wait between songs for the winding. I make my next stop and ask him to put the cassete in its case.
"Daddy, how do you do this? I opened it, but I can't figure out how to put the cassette in. "

Took him a minute. I laughed. But, I was the age of cassettes. My go to, bring along mix, hours in the making, carry a guitar hero in a pocket, stop a song on a dime for knowing pace of the wind, take apart and rebuild fallen innards to save a classic, so much time for so little a device that was merely compact at the time and completely irrelevant today. It was a weird moment. Makes me want to rummage and find any other cassettes I have in that dark room closet of a mess. But not so bad yet.

and to FT: It was my old Gypsy Blood, Mason Ruffner tape I found.

I still have a couple dozen cassettes I've saved. The only ones I really ever listen to are old bands I was in or friends with. Good shit though blowing your kids mind: You now seem roughly 30 years older to him than you did before.

I wrote something like that in the there last night and deleted it because it's true. I am old and I did not want to see it typed out. Thanks man.

That Tillman thing is great, but I can't help but make fun of dude's sorry, child like handwriting.

Does it fit on your shoulder?

I wouldn't really consider this one shoulder style, but I probably should get some batteries for it just in case.
