Nebraska is going to wear alternative uniforms against the Badgers this year in Lincoln. I can't say I am really impressed by them, but at least they don't actually include an image of corn on the helmet or look like red and white camouflage.

Speaking of the Badgers, they have to be pretty confident about their chances of representing the Leaders Division in the Big Ten title game again this year with both Ohio State and Penn State being ineligible.

Pic fixed, and I agree about Wisconsin's prospects in that division even without the current sanctions.

In terms of the exodus from Happy Valley, RB Redd to USC, LB Forrt to Cal, QB Bolden to LSU. Redd should have the biggest short-term impact as USC's ground game had a hard time converting in the red zone last year. Bolden is the biggest unknown: lots of talent but didn't get along with either set of Penn State coaching sets and was looking elsewhere anyway. All players have 2 years of eligibility left, so if Bolden develops we could see him face Redd in a BCS championship game, which is essentially my CFB equivalent to Cliff Lee vs. CC Sabathia in Game 1 of the 2009 World Series.

Bolden will never touch the field other than in mop-up duties, unless Mettenberger gets hurt. He was taken as an insurance policy because, behind Mett, LSU has two RS freshmen who would be scary if called upon.

I think Nebraska is overrated too, but I'm hoping that by underestimating them this season, they will actually prove me wrong.

I'd prefer we start out of the top 20

I've had so much going on that I am woefully behind in all things CFB but I'll offer my Sparky The Sportscaster take on this years UGA squad.

Main concerns:

O-line - lost 3 starters to the NFL. Eligibility issues abound and many are getting their first shots at starting. Our season may rise or fall right here. Because......

Running Backs - Isaiah CrowFAIL is gone. Bringing back some 2nd and 3rd options and a couple of high school All Americans. If the O-line isn't up to it, we're screwed Offensively.

Aaron Murray - I keep watching and seeing greatness and also inconsistency. For all the good he does, he still hasn't beaten a final AP poll Top 25 team. STILL. The O-line rears it's head here again.

Kicking game - Freshman punter. Freshman kicker. Should be juuuuuust fine.

The good:

Defense -All Americans, SEC 1st and 2nd teamers all over this squad. Potential to be a Top 5 defense, maybe even Top 2.

Our D will keep us in every game we play but the Offense has to do their part. Our schedule is ridiculously light. If we overcome the suspensions and beat Mizzou @ Columbia, then the South Carolina game will be the difference in us going 11-1 or 10-2.

Until I see otherwise, I think we'll be good not great.

Also, anybody see this latest gem from the NCAA board on the eligibile bowl teams?

Quote:
Once again there are 35 bowl games on the schedule this year, which of course requires at least 70 Bowl Subdivision teams to meet the minimum six-win threshold for eligibility. Trouble is, the pool is already a bit smaller than usual this season. Three schools — North Carolina, Ohio State and Penn State — are banned from the postseason because of NCAA sanctions. A fourth, Central Florida, was added to that list in an NCAA ruling this week, though that might not be in effect until the 2013 season if the school files an appeal as it has said it would. Last year, there were 72 bowl-eligible teams — barely enough — with Southern California finishing out its two-season bowl exile and Miami (Fla.) self-imposing a bowl ban for 2011.

Don't fret though. STOP! WAIVER TIME!

Quote:
The NCAA Division I Board of Directors acted Thursday to put waiver rules in place just in case the magic number of 70 bowl-eligible teams isn’t achieved, or if any conferences fall short of the number of eligible teams needed to fulfill contractual obligations.

First consideration would go to teams that are 6-6 but “would not normally be bowl eligible because they have a win against a Football Championship Subdivision team.” Next, 6-6 teams with two FCS wins could be considered.

Third, a team that finishes 6-7 with the seventh loss in a conference championship game (think UCLA in 2011). After that, 6-7 teams that played 13 regularly scheduled games could be considered. That often applies to Hawaii or any of the Warriors’ opponents who travel to the islands.

The next pool would consist of teams reclassifying from FCS — this year that includes South Alabama, Texas State, Texas-San Antonio and Georgia State — with at least a 6-6 record. If a sixth pool is needed, a bowl could invite a 5-7 team that has a top-five APR rating.

NCAA: Strong on child rape. Crumbles to the TV dollar.

For the Bayou Bengals? Because they went from being one of the best college football teams anybody had ever seen (ever) to getting the living shit kicked out of them by Bammer last year.

Yes, us. I absolutely hate starting as preseason #1. That being said, I do think LSU is the best team this year. Stacked everywhere with the exception of, yes, QB.

Here's what the Badger uniforms look like for the Adidas unrivaled game here in Lincoln.

The officials can wear gear labelled D (for deliberator), making the game a WND showcase. Nebraskans -- the realest among whom get their news from World Net Daily -- would appreciate that.

He can transfer to a D2 & play right away, then declare for the draft.

Easy peasy.

I thought he was leaning toward staying in state and attending McNeese State, and is also considering Jackson State and Praire View A&M?

sad because you won't see him in lsu colors? you obviously don't give a toss about him earning a degree since he could get it elsewhere, so what makes his case especially sad? and why is his future in jeopardy? kid gets tossed from team after multiple chances to clean his shit up before cashing in from the bigs. it's the american way.

Sad because he's battling this addiction. Sad because, by all accounts, his draft stock has fallen from late first/early second to seventh or undrafted. Could he still possibly make it? Of course, but it will be much more difficult now.

addictions to dat synthetic weeg, arrests & multiple academic infractions are truly heartbreaking. thugs far shittier than this punk get drafted all the time. i think it's high time you sever your blind allegiance to lsu & admit you're more bummed about filling a hole in your college fantasy team. i noticed you failed to mention anything about him getting an education - which i find appalling considering you're a teacher.
