Yeah, we've been looking for a used one (sans bar) for awhile. They're incredible. I've seen some done up really nice at festivals. I'd love an all-wood one, but don't think I could afford it. Probably would have to go with the all-aluminum models.

when we recorded at tarbox, dave had one of these...kinda got me inspired.

they're really lightweight too. me and a bandmate helped him move it across his front lawn with very little exertion.

There is a 4'x8' model for around $4500 on CL. Looks decent. Great for one person--two people could be uncomfortable. And, yeah small ones weigh like 750#.

This one is $8900. But has the equivalent of a queen-sized bed in it that folds into a really nice table/couch. Oh, and it has a fridge, A/C and heatpump.

*edit* oh, it looks like what yr friend had as well.

so on the way back from camping last week, we stopped in Steamboat, and i saw this in a shop:

i was torn between disgust and a small urge of wanting one. disgust won out in the end.

Pretty sure Mutty knows that.

What some of you apparently don't know is that the image doesn't originate with Joy Division.

Google tells me it first appeared in a January 1971 issue of Scientific American. And the more well-known negative image was first published in 1974.

So I guess the Obnerd disgust is aimed at Joy Division for appropriating someone else's artwork?

So do you think Steamboat Colorado and Disney used the image because of the 1971 edition of Scientific American, or because of the association with the band Joy Division?

It's more perplexing than disgusting that Disney would want to associate Mickey Mouse with Joy Division.

And maybe they didn't? A lot of people know that album cover, but I wonder what percentage of the population sees that and immediately thinks "Joy Division".

At one hundred million dollars for the band, split five ways, you're talking 10-12 million after taxes. (Dizzy gets nothing.) &, eh, that would buy a lot of hobo beans, heroin, & weed for Steven Adler & Gary Young.

Sometimes, I like to imagine ex-drummers holding court at vagrant encampments like the one in Wendy & Lucy. Adler, Young, Marky Ramone...
