I'm worried. My daughter is at Tulane.

Wow! Is she evacuating?

No. She's hunkered down (a few blocks from the campus) right on Broadway. She's on a top floor with a house full of people as well as an abundant amount of supplies. That said, I'm still concerned.

Of course you are! I know that most New Orleans natives are also hanging in, so they're relying on a weak storm. Has she ever experienced a hurricane before?

Am I the only one who didn't know M-Cap was a father?

The child is actually, & oddly enough, Billy G's. CPS happened to place her with the Cappy Clan.

She hasn't. She'll be fine. Well, that's what I've been telling myself over & over. Apparently yesterday, some of the stores near the campus had a lot of drinking water still available, but sold out of all the beer the day before.

Great town.

Very cool - I just feel kind of stupid for not already knowing that. My files are apparently even more outdated than Monty's.

By the way, WHEN WILL THE A's STOP WINNING???

I'm just enjoying it while it lasts.

Other than the Final 3 of the season in my backyard, we still have that 4-gamer at TBaA on Sept 24.
7 games still to play with the Rangers. Ugh. Hopefully my heart doesn't stop before that. Tough being a sports fan.

So, which is at Tulane? 22 year-old grad student or 17 year-old freshman?

maybe we should do this. like, really do this. maybe not a week, maybe just a few days, and maybe not in nawlin's.

no sig others though, that could get embarrassing.

also, no video, and we should probably have paramedics standing by.

My oldest took a gap year so this is her last. Grad school is a big question mark at this point. Youngest is a senior in HS. Thanks for asking-

I have been through multiple bouts of this in NOLA...it's not pretty. I went to a one hour and 15 minute law school class. I went back to my car and my books were floating, and the car was flooded up to mid steering wheel.

No matter how they finish, it's been an incredible effort by your A's this season.

jokes aside, why is the levee some 8 feet high? seems ridiculous to me. of course a surge can topple that, which it has.

flooding is gonna be brutal.

Didn't someone once suggest this? Trying to find a centralized locale would be a pain. Who here lives near Lebanon, Kansas?

Malachi AKA Prometheum.
Onebrownjeff.
shaMoxie (maybe?).

Those are the Kansas City/Omaha Kings of the Board of which I recall. Maybe throw a GrapeRipple in there (someone in Central Missouri, I think; PopTodd can confirm) & any Iowa boarders (I know we've had one or two).

Closest I've been was the one a year ago that hit VT. Boston got rain and 33mph winds, meh, but VT went from "rain" to "1/4 mile of the road is gone" in about 2 hours. It's all vertical there, everything is a valley, so when it DOES rain like that, like once every hundred years, it all gathers into the streams and rivers and is suddenly 30 feet high. So a lot of places I know well got gutted. There are still cars and appliances wrapped around trees by the rivers. Just saw it 2 weeks ago.
