OBNERFEST 2013

Let's get this discussion out of the hurricane thread.

I say a 3-day weekend would be fitting, Obs can stay in local hotels, we destroy every kitchen and bar in a 10-mile radius, we leave happy and shameful back to our loving families.

Obs can fill out the following options that are best for them and we can go from there:

Cities: Montgomery, Nashville, or somewhere in the Midwest I've never been
Months: Jan, Feb, or anytime after April

Anyone up for this?

I vote for Nashville.

i chose it because i haven't been since I was a child, and it seems pretty rad.

Stu can get us drunk guys.

If it's Montgomery, I could do it without having to make any special plans.

And it'd be really easy to choose where to hang out/meet up because there's only one cool area in the whole city, and it's like one block.

I'd much rather go to Nashville, but I doubt I'll be able to plan any trips around this.

This sounds like something that I would LOVE to do, but probably won't be able to because of all that life stuff that tends to get in the way.
Still, keep the plans public so that, if it turns out that I (or any other folks like me) can go, we know where to be and when.

nashville is 6 hrs away from me and i know some cool people there.

Maybe we can book a multi-band show somewhere (like Nashville or Indy)? We know that we have a built-in draw from all the out-of-town folks that will be coming in.
Anyone have club connections? Someone willing to book something like this on a weekend night?

An Ob jam session to end the night could be epic.

I'm down to try for Nashville. I'm thinking of moving out of austin. Nashville's not high on my list, but maybe a trip would change my mind. Post NYE would work or MLK weekend, or second half of april.

spring break is sxsw.

I'd go with Nashville, if we weren't going to do something like Atlanta/Athens, Chicago or Boston.
Denver would work pretty nice for someone like myself, but it is probably a little too far west, and Milwaukee, Madison and the Twin cities are a bit too far north for nearly everyone else.
I'll probably be spending all of my travel money on going to Denver for GABF next year anyway.

No offense to MontGARmery, but Nashville makes the most sense. We could all crash with either Discostu, Doc Patrick, or Nic (formerly of CMJ).

So far Austin or Chicago are topping my list, excluding the obvious "everyone come here so I don't have to do shit" option.

i think i could convince femparis to make a long weekend out of New Orleans, Austin, or Chicago (if we were going to stick with the theme of a centrally-located city). especially if centered around some other event like jazz fest/sxsw, or whatever.

although nashville seems ok, not really at the top of my tourism bucket list.

Let's just plan on everyone going to SXSW next year, and do this then.

I could possibly do Nashville and stay/see a friend. Not until April though.

My vote is to rent a big ol house in the woods of WV and have a Most Dangerous Game style tournament. Many obner in, only one out.

Why not just have it in Alberta then so Dumpjack doesn't have to travel so far afterward.

Wasn't there an obnerfest a long time ago in Chicago? Did anyone from out of town actually go? I'm pretty skeptical.

We had a good little meetup in NYC about 6 years ago once. Haq, OPA, Lemur, etc.
