This year may even top 1977 for sheer depth of quality albums.

and I need to listen to the Eno and PIL albums a bit more, but am guessing that they would be pretty close too.

Hell! Looking through AllMusic, I could probably do a 12-pack or even a case for '78.

Yeah but I could do that for pretty much any year in the 70's and don't think I'd put '78 in the upper half of the decade in terms of overall quality.
