Harry,
The early line for the showdown between Nebraska and UCLA at the Rose Bowl this week is the Huskers by 6.
I'm looking forward to the primetime clash, but I will be spending most of that time eating smoked meat and drinking craft beer at a Home Brew Club picnic.

I think the spread is now down to 4 1/2... this early in the season I wouldn't surprised in any outcome of this game. Nebraska (and Martinez) could easily become one of the big stories of CFB this year... and it's impossible to know how much UCLA has improved. But Bruins (who have always had talent) look like they are completely rebuilt in the Mora era... and, at home with high hopes, will be motivated. This game means more to UCLA than Huskers. I am guessing Bruins would win by a field goal ( but then they have no kicker... and a questionable defensive backfield.)

One word for the future... Hundley.

A loss in LA would be catastrophic for Nebraska, especially since this game is huge for recruiting. Johnny Stanton one of the top dual threat QB and an Elite 11 is currently a verbal commit for the Huskers, and he will most likely be at this game. I realize it is the first game in the Mora era, but they are struggling to fill the stadium with Bruin fans and the LA Times thinks that Huskers might have more fans at the Rose Bowl on Saturday.

Any prop bets between PopTodd & Derris for the first Mizzou SEC game? The standard offering would be Todd offering to change his avatar to the FT-created (?) Johnny Taint & the Cans of Piss Lappin' it up album cover, in the event of a Bulldog win, while Derris would offer to change his to the Chicken on a bicycle cover, should the Tigers win. For the length of the college (regular) season, say. But, who knows? Maybe just put some Cap City beer up against Squirrrgle's own....

Man, anyone watch Gameday? It's time to put Corso out to pasture. There were some cringeworthy old man moments today. Like, openly not even in the same segment as the rest of the guys. It wasn't just him either. ESPN def off their game today.

Some early afternoon thoughts:

Can't decide if Miss St is much improved or if Auburn is that bad. Regardless, maybe the Auburn faithful will see the shine is off ol Chizik. Also, glad MSU isn't on the schedule this year.

This PSU/UVA game has been atrocious but finishing awesome. Someone is about to get their heart broken.

Ouch. PSU falls. 1/5 for FG's and UVA had 4 turnovers to PSU's 0.

I saw the dude with the "I Had Bath Salts for Breakfast" sign, which is the best game day sign I've ever seen.

And Auburn is openly terrible. They basically have 3 recruiting classes recruited to play in 3 different teams, and have no real options at QB.

Bama on the other hand is a fucking juggernaut ready to go Vlad Putin on mofos. It's awesome being a 5 year rebuilding period when your wife's team is winning national championships left and right, lemme tell you.

It wasn't always pretty, but 2-0 feels Good. And by Good, I mean it feels like a mild heart attack in your 50s.

Anybody check on THEE Incident, to make sure he didn't poison himself to death with alcohol in commemoration of John L. Smith bringing his special blend to the SEC?

Chad must be pleased as punch to see JLS FAIL, again, & this time, for somebody else's side.

Speaking of -- isn't Huskerpunk's second team (after Nebraska, of course) Arkansas? Anybody check on him?

First thing I thought when I saw that score was Harry and Promethium

Congrats Harry,
UCLA either has a juggernaut offense in the works, or Bo Pelini needs to spend a little more time coaching Defense again.
I avoided watching most of the game, since I was at a homebrew club potluck dinner with a Polka band playing outside in lovely weather.
I'm glad Nebraska wasn't the only ranked team to go down yesterday, and that the Huskers didn't lose to someone like UL-M.
I just hope the defense doesn't give up this sort of yardage against Arkansas State next weekend.

Yep, it looks like this Mora-turnaround is for real. Mazzone has created a great offense that (who know, but it's reasonable to say...) will get much better by the end of the season. Word in Brun Nation is 1) the Husker fans (who made up about 20k of the 70k at the Rose Bowl last night) are the classiest fans ever and 2) enjoy Mazzone while we have him 'cause he'll.be a Div 1 coach somewhere next year. But it was the D that stunned... UCLA has been "soft" for so many years. Not this year.

I see UCLA winning out until the USC game (although the Pac 12 is much better than people projected, so it's college, anything can happen...). Both teams in Top Ten by then, it could be an epic rivalry game... finally.

Good luck to the Huskers the rest of the way. Martinez has great, great talent.

I had a great time---actually still am. Watching Seattle-Arizona in the French Quarter as I type. As for the game--the outcome was never in doubt, even before it started. I was disapointed by the poor effort and disparity of the score though. The LSU fans were great. Tailgating was fantastic.

To your 41-3 comment I'd say 10-7 and 45-31 and 36-30. And those were 3 unranked PAC 12 teams beating ranked teams. Your #3 team did what it was expected to do at home. Nice job.

I know. I'm just being bitter about UW being so shitty. And frankly it's meaningless.

Louisiana has been very hospitable. The hurricane damage has been eye-opening and puts things in perspective. I'm in awe of you who live with this threat and it's residual all the time.

Signature (possibly expected) follow-up from a painful off-season. Didn't watch the game, so I'm not sure if it's the case of the defense executing for most of the game and choking at the end. Granted, the offense and kicking game didn't help much (PK Anthony Fera left PSU for Texas and doesn't have any 2012 stats due to a groin injury). Both games have been winnable even if the opposition wasn't best-of-class. That's something, I guess...

SEC teams in Top 25 = 6
PAC 12 teams in Top 25 = 5

That wasn't expected.

Yep, Arkansas is my second team... although I really don't find myself rooting for them that much. So, yep... the three states that I've lived in (Nebraska, Arkansas & Wisconsin) all lost this weekend. And the Packers looked pretty bad (at least defensively) too. Rough sports weekend, but I'll survive. ;)

I still have visions of Huskers trying to arm tackle Franklin... ugh. :)

I didn't catch it, but it was mentioned by a friend while watching the lead up to the UGA game. He's going to be put out to pasture soon enough, but who fills in for him?

Huskers haven't been the only ones.... small, slippery, quick and fast. He's about to become the all time UCLA runner (with three years on BAD UCLA teams) and is an authentic Heisman candidate.

The Arkansas fanbase has clearly reached their breaking point. They respond to the internet:

Welcome to the SEC Mizzou and A&M. We've got Crazy on LOCK.

I was really hoping for Mizzou to pull it out, 'cause I wanted to see CHH return to Montgomery. & maybe, finally, for FireMarkRicht.com to become a thing, webmastered by BlooGAR.
