Oh my, this post just had this flashing thru my head (prolly a product of realizing you're doing a reverse-jinx): Dallas-Denver Super Bowl. Romo. Manning. JERRAH! The Ghost of Tebows Past.

If this is on FOX -- which I don't think it will be, since FOX did the Bowl two years ago for Packers-Steelers -- I would have to kill myself. As though Aikman & Joey Joey Buck Buck aren't Cowboy slurpers enough... Then, you would throw in Peyton. Ugh.

i love the fact that my cowboys went on the road and beat the giants, but even i don't have any delusions whatsoever of them making it to the super bowl

even the nfc championship game would be the longest of long shots

I feel like both conferences are wide open this year.

Congrats to Adam and Dr. Mike on a dominant win. Solid team you've got up there.

As for my team, they look to be the same inconsistent, unreliable POS outfit they've been for years.

Other than Special Teams, I actually thought the Cowboys actually played fairly well - Romo evaded a number of sacks and then hit guys for 15 yard gains when they needed 13.

I think Golden Tat's block on Sean Lee was almost a metaphor of the game as a whole - they didn't see team right in front of them and got completely blown up.

And it totally annoys me how people are calling that a dirty hit - Tate didn't approach him from the behind or front - hits him square in the numbers with his shoulder and then his head impacts right between the numbers. The late hit that got flagged on the same play WAS complete crap though - Wilson was out of bounds but the dude really didn't push him......and I really wouldn't have had an issue with a ref flagging Tate for excessive celebration/taunting.

Just watching the gif and not knowing the outcome, I was going to say I'm sure the NFL views that as a dirty hit.

See, that's the problem with the No Fun League - I've watched the hit over a hundred times since yesterday and have gone through it frame by frame - based on the rules available, it should probably be used by the league to show how you can legally blow a guy up on a play like this. (He hits him from in front, not the side or behind, he leads with his shoulder and hits him square in the numbers, he doesn't launch).

Having said all of this, even I know he's probably going to be fined by the NFL- and that's what is ridiculous.

I've seen plenty of plays like that in my day and even if that play was going against my team, I'd say it was a great hit.

The Dallas player gets what he gets for not seeing him coming but I'm not sure how you can not see that he lowers his head and leads with his helmet at the last second. I'm not saying the intent was dirty but doing that will always open you up to possible fines and a flag almost every time.

Not that it matters much to me, Marshawn was awesome yesterday and got me a ton of fantasy points.

I don't have a gif of it but from the other angle he actually clearly buries his shoulder first high in Lee's chest, THEN his head impacts directly into the middle of Lee's chest and only then does Lee's chin comes down on top of Tat's helmet. Also, this isn't a play away from the ball, but rather a guy in direct pursuit of Wilson who had the angle of pursuit and probably would have made a tackle. If you can't block him then what are you supposed to do?

Definitely know where yr coming from. In yesterday's Ravens/Eagles game Ed Reed came up and went in to sack Vick. As he came in, his arms were up--to block the pass--and when he came down on Vick his arms naturally came down and forward. Roughing the passer. Blatantly momentum and physics come into play, but the NFL shrugs that off and calls things black and white.

You could make that same argument about pretty much every roughing the kicker penalty, ever. I think those are just the stakes of aggressively going after a quarterback or kicker. However, I think the Ed Reed penalty was mainly because he hit Vick in the facemask (if I recall correctly. I don't have a replay to look at.)

The refs were terrible all weekend, though. They either need to get the old refs back or give each team an extra replay challenge and make everything challengable.

He did hit his helmet. The problem with your argument is that kickers aren't meant to be tackled. QBs have that threat.

A rare solid prime time showing by the Falcs last night. Matt Ryan looked REALLY good last night. Like, All World good. Went 24/36 but had at least 4 drops that hit receivers in the numbers. They seem to be enjoying the new offense but despite the win, we can't run the ball for shit.

That WILL catch up to them at some point.

Also, way to fail Michael Turner.

Yeah, I feel like they should be doing what I do every Tuesday morning for my Fantasy teams: Scour the scrap heap for a running back to get me enough to win the next weeks game.

Also, way to have a night, William Moore--that dude was everywhere.

Ha, I knew that post would come back to haunt. No, I don't. This is going to be a long, ugly season. I am not sure they win 8 games honestly.

I think b/c the league states that you can't use your helmet as a battering ram? Looks like head to head contact, but maybe I'm wrong on the rules?

As Chrome CW pointed out above, there are reverse angle views that show Tate's shoulder to Lee's chest as the initial contact then his helmet hits the face mask. Is that illegal? I don't think so. But I'm sure Goodell does and Tate can expect a $10,000 fine which his teammates will gladly cover.

Not dirty. A nice catch of disappearing football.
