Speaking of the English Beat...Anyone else check out the new-ish (this summer) 5CD English Beat box set? It's called The Complete Beat and contains all three studio albums, with bonus tracks. Plus, you get a disc of Dubs and extended versions as well as a live disc. For me, it's the extended and dub version disc that makes this set really great as I've long had the rest of the stuff. Anyway, any English Beat freaks should check this out:

Best album I've heard this year so far. Before I had only listened to his cameo spots on outkast tracks and dismissed him, but this is great. What should I get next by him?

I only listen for El-P's production. Have you heard El-P's new album?

Not yet. I just got I'll sleep when you're dead, but haven't had a chance to really listen to it yet. The production on the Killer Mike album is incredible. Who would have ever thought T.I. would be on an EL-P beat.

Spinning XX: Coexist after the vinyl arrived yesterday. I liked this one at first listen, but I like it more and more as I go back to it. At first I thought it lacked some of the hooks of the debut but these songs burrow their way into your brain soon enough. Certainly more subdued than their already laid back debut, but they do a great job of keeping their essential sound intact even as they slow down and add some new elements. I can see this thing getting a ton of play over time. Great late night coming down album.
