I like it more than I thought I would. More a cross between the New Porns and Zumpano, and the song "Encyclopedia of Classic Takedowns" might be his best hook since "Letter from an Occupant".

The albums by Tim Rogers (leader of You Am I) and My Jerusalem are really hitting home though.

DJ Clash featuring Nicodemus and Toyan

Been on a bit of a reggae/dub/dancehall kick lately. Just picked this one up on vinyl and I'm loving it. Great dubbed out backing with Nicodemus and Toyan taking turns over the top. Henry "Junjo" Lawes handles the production on this and does a fantastic job as the backing tracks steal the show for me.

I was curious about My Jerusalem. May have to check it.

Ricardo Donoso: Assimilating the Shadow

Excellent laid back trance/techno. Reminiscent of last year's Nicolas Jaar album in that it comes from the dance music world and is obviously influenced by that, but isn't at all a dance record. This one is more trance inflected though. Also in the same ball park as the Actress album from this year.

An old cassette, I believe from around 1992:
Image

Side A:
The Smiths - The Queen is Dead

Side B:
L7 - Pretend We're Dead
Soul Asylum - Without a Trace
Sugar - Helpless
The La's - There She Goes
My Bloody Valentine - When You Sleep
Velvet Underground - I Can't Stand It
Sonic Youth - Youth Against Fascism, Nic Fit
Mary's Danish - Underwater
The Cure - Friday I'm in Love
Teenage Fanclub - Satan
Mudhoney - Touch Me I'm Sick
Tom Waits - Frank's Wild Years

I'm playing the B-side now.
