Glad I got him to sign my copy of Campaign Trail 72 last year when I could.

I also ghost-wrote a letter from him for one of my clients. Interesting guy.

An American hero. It was an incredible victory for progressives that he was nominated for President (whether it was pyrrhiic, is open to discussion). Look at the "liberal" things (EPA, China) that the criminal Nixon was forced to do by the pressure pushing the public sphere to the left. I remember many weekends canvassing for George(walking! knocking on doors! real face to face conversation!) as a college student in safely progressive neighborhoods of West L.A. Remember an ancient Japanese woman in Sawtelle, "yes, I am voting for him. I can see he wants peace."

The only thing I want more than an "Acid Amnesty Abortion" shirt is a CCCP hockey jersey.

What about one of those Lithuanian Men's Basketball warm-ups from '92? To complete the Dead Listening Project, I should say.

EPA was in 1970 along with the Clean Air and Water Acts...Long before McGovern and longer still before The Opposition denied science. Though I'm sure you'd be quick to point out that the propaganda and pseudo science put out by the industries regulated by the EPA began at that moment. You'd of course be right)

To wit, Nixon was more liberal than any of our current stock even before demolishing McGovern.

Heard from Uncle Brian today for the first time in forever...a guy who has a collection of McGovern campaign buttons. Can't wait to hold him tightly on Election Night and ponder our new, Mormon futures. Thanks for nothing, America.

It really is pretty much over for Barry at this point, isn't it?

The hog is in the tunnel as they say. He still has electoral math and a superior ground game on his side, but it appears (to me at least) that the big picture tide may have finally turned against him.

If Mitt comes out tonight and says that he won't allow creeps like John Bolton and the gaggle of borderline war criminals who shammed us into Iraq to ever get near the levers of American foreign policy power again, I might be inclined to accept that he might not be half bad.

Where did all this come from? Did I miss a scandal this weekend?

If Mitch's word could be trusted, I guess. Sort of. But the perception by the rest of the world, especially the middle east, to a Romney victory will not lead to anything good - unless Mitt goes on his own apology tour (which would be awesome just so I could finally see what such a thing is) and explains that all his extremist rhetoric was merely a ruse to trick the teabag hicks in to giving him the nom.

And on the domestic side, there's the whole anti-choice thing. Plus the further encroachment of the American Taliban. Also, any of those bible-and-gun rightards who vote to have their country run like a business have forfeited the right to complain when their job/benefit/whatever gets outsourced/cut/whatever in order to achieve a greater profit margin.

I guess I just can't see any positive from a Romney win. It seems so dire that I'm starting to root for the Greg Marmalard/Doug Neidermeyer side just to watch the fires in the streets.

I think Romney is probably a centrist at heart (if he has one), but he has promised so much to the right and will need to deliver the goods for them in order to get their support in 2016. SCOTUS is already trending to the right and if he gets a couple appointments, all sorts of hell could break loose. also Paul Ryan could possibly be the anti christ. just sayin.

Reportedly moderator Bob Scheiffer received an anonymous phone call today. It said only:

I think the fix is in.

My post was definitely tongue-in-cheek because those are exactly the sort of foreign people who are advising him. BUT, I do have to gameplan (psychologically) for a potential Romney victory. I have to live here and all.

He'll have their support in 2016 regardless. It's not like the left isn't supporting Obama despite his pretty dismal record on actually, ya know, acting like a liberal.

Oh yeah, the debate. May have to ice down something from the good beer cabinet for this.
