I've been catching a song here and a song there from George and really loving him more and more each time that I hear him.
Where should I start with his albums? Or, should I just get a hits collection?

I used to listen to some of his later output. I never transitioned my cassette collection to cd or digital. But, recently got a collection of 24 Greatest Hits, which has lots of early stuff I did not have. He has got some great songs.

He has a lot of "eras" from rockabilly to duets with Tammy and 70s Countrypolitan.

He's truly one of the greatest monsters in music.

Just look at this picture. This is a gimmick song, but I've always loved it:

If you're planning to go the CD route, you're probably best off starting with a greatest hits. Country is probably the one genre where most of the classic studio albums pre-1970 still haven't been reissued. The one Jewels posted looks good but it's limited to his early work on Mercury.

is a good career spanning one. That is were I started. I've since bought a bunch of studio albums too and all have been good. If I had to listen to just one George Jones album though it'd be the Spirit of Country.
