A man who dresses up as a giraffe and carries out random acts of kindness towards people across Scotland has said he does it to feel good.

Twice a week Armstrong Baillie, 32, dons a furry suit his mother made him, before travelling to different places to do good deeds.

He calls himself The Good Giraffe and lives in Dundee with his girlfriend and her daughter.

Originally from Glasgow, he has often been spotted in Edinburgh.

He has also been to Stonehaven, Aberdeen, Forfar, Dundee, the Black Isle and Glasgow to carry out his acts of kindness.

During the past six months Armstrong has handed out free bananas and water to runners at the Edinburgh Half Marathon, cleaned up litter on Portobello Beach and given away £10 vouchers to mothers in hospitals.

He has also been seen handing out free coffee to cold passers-by and cleaning cages at cat and dog homes.

Unemployed, Mr Baillie, said he busks using his kazoo and djembe drum then uses the donations to pay for the kind deeds.

He hitch-hikes to reach his destinations - but is only able to be picked up by convertibles due to his long-necked suit.

He said: "It makes me happy when I see the difference in people when they see me in the suit. It makes them happy and it makes me feel cheery.

"The reason I picked a giraffe is that I have always been interested in animals and giraffes are my favourite animal.

"Giraffes are like me, as my head is in the clouds but my heart is in the right place."

He added: "Most of the time I get a good welcome in the suit but I remember once a Kevin Bridges lookalike tried to pull the head off in a pub, it might even have been the real Kevin Bridges as I didn't have my glasses on."

Armstrong said he planned to carry on doing good deeds.

I sincerely feel empathy for the teenage boys in the Minnetonka school district:

Minnesota Principal Urges Students Not to Wear Leggings
By Eliza Murphy | ABC News Blogs – 5 hrs ago

Dave Adney, the principal of Minnetonka High School in Minnetonka, Minn., has gained a lot of attention for an email he sent to the parents of his students on Nov. 12 suggesting they support his "goal of keeping things covered up."

The email was intended to alert parents to a recent wardrobe issue the school has been dealing with during the colder months: Female students were wearing tight, spandex leggings.

"As the weather gets colder we have noticed a fashion trend with our young women," read Adney's email. "Many of them choose to wear leggings usually made of spandex or another form of tight fitting material. In past years this has not been a major problem since fashion norms called for a long sweatshirt, jersey or sweater to be worn in conjunction with the leggings. This fall another pattern has emerged and we are requesting parent support."

Janet Swiecichowski, the executive director for communications with Minnetonka Public Schools, said the principal's email was "nothing out of the blue" because he often communicates with the parents. But Swiecichowski said this one, in particular, has been receiving a lot of positive reinforcement.

"It is a cyclical communication that the principal does. As seasons change, we talk about the different expectations for student dress," Swiecichowski told ABCNews.com. "As winter was coming around, we usually see students in longer sweaters and leggings. This year, they seem to be wearing shorter tops."

And it's the shorter tops paired with the leggings that are really becoming the problem.

"This new trend doesn't seem right, it's troubling," Adney told the Star Tribune. "Cover your butts up - I'm just going to say it straight up. We're seeing too much."

The leggings are not officially banned, as of now, but the principal is urging students to practice modesty when planning their outfits.

"There is no ban," Swiecichowski said. "The email was intended to suggest to parents to talk to your teens about how they're dressing for school - what you think is appropriate - and that modesty is usually a good fall-back. When in doubt, go modest."

Adney's email concluded, "Some of our girls have chosen to wear t-shirts with the leggings, thus exposing more leg and backside area. This can be highly distracting for other students and I am asking your assistance. If your daughters choose to wear leggings or other tight fitting clothing please support our goal of keeping things covered up. We encourage students to dress modestly and this trend is definitely a move away from our general expectations."

Minnetonka High School is not the only one cracking down on clothing. Last year, Pennsylvania's Catasauqua Area School District banned skinny jeans, leggings, ripped pants, low-cut tops and hooded sweatshirts.

That dude was 15/16ths with dat babgy stork writing that email.

The first draft said "Oh God, I'm SO HARD! I can't make it through 3rd period without locking my office door and looking up "high school sluts" on youjizz thinking about your daughters taking on the football team."

We are sorry to announce that Hostess Brands, Inc. has been forced by a Bakers Union strike to shut down all operations and sell all company assets. For more information, go to hostessbrands.info. Thank you for all of your loyalty and support over the years.

HOSTESS BRANDS TO WIND DOWN COMPANY AFTER BCTGM UNION STRIKE CRIPPLES OPERATIONS

“We deeply regret the necessity of today’s decision, but we do not have the financial resources to weather an extended nationwide strike,” said Gregory F. Rayburn, chief executive officer. “Hostess Brands will move promptly to lay off most of its 18,500-member workforce and focus on selling its assets to the highest bidders.”

In addition to dozens of baking and distribution facilities around the country, Hostess Brands will sell its popular brands, including Hostess®, Drakes® and Dolly Madison®, which make iconic cake products such as Twinkies®, CupCakes, Ding Dongs®, Ho Ho’s®, Sno Balls® and Donettes®. Bread brands to be sold include Wonder®, Nature’s Pride ®, Merita®, Home Pride®, Butternut®, and Beefsteak®, among others.

The wind down means the closure of 33 bakeries, 565 distribution centers, approximately 5,500 delivery routes and 570 bakery outlet stores throughout the United States.
