My exposure to new music has slowed to a tinkle. I need a few new albums to get sick of. I went through a couple pages of posts, but there's not much about music, so I'm lazywebbing you. What are you listening to that I should try? Doesn't have to be brand new, I'm way out of the game.

Thanks and hello again,
Haq

The thread about Top Albums Of The Year is a great source. Tame Impala seems to be a crowd favorite.

Knowing that you have been a fan of Neko Case in the past, the new Kelly Hogan album is pretty fantastic. It scratches that same itch, only with some new fingers for ya'.

Also the Grizzly Bear album from this year is great. And Dirty Projectors.

And the Beach House and Walkmen albums. And the Damien Jurado album. And the Godspeed album.

All three Ty Segall albums are really good. And both Mount Eerie albums.

Chuck Prophet: Temple Beautiful has been a safe one for me to recommend to others. Just a solid, slightly rootsy pop/rock album. Good hooks, interesting lyrics, well played and produced. Just a really good outing all around.

I adore about 2 songs off that Frank Orange album.

Speedy Ortiz has been blowing my mind lately. Started as a solo outlet for Sadie Dupruis (Quilty), there are two free releases on bandcamp where it is her doing all the instruments/recording--a 4-song EP (Cop Kicker) and a full-length (the death of speedy ortiz). She found a couple of people to join the band and released a two-song single and another EP (Sports), both worth every cent they charge (one of the few cases where I've paid more than the minimum).

RIYL: 90's alternative/indie with great songwriting

(Their most recent release is on Spotify, too: http://open.spotify.com/artist/6YHfq8Pg3lZPo1u0PaQ8ob )

Let me know what you think. First band I've felt downright evangelical about for years.

Other people I've shared it with just give me a look. I've been starting to think I'm just crazy.

Listening now.
The vocals are very, very Kim Deal. Not just her phrasing and melodies, but the actual sound of her voice.
The band, on the other hand, while there are some Breeders elements there, there is a nastier more-jagged thing going on there, too. A bit more punk rock with more-dissonant guitars and a lot more tom-tom work on the drums. Maybe a bit of Fugazi?
It's a cool combo that fans of 90's indie revivalist stuff like Yuck should really enjoy. I am enjoying it, myself. However, having been there for the first go-round, I find it giving me the urge to hear the original stuff as much as anything else. But very well-done.
So, no, you're not crazy.

That's a good reminder that I need to check out The Breeders.

I got a bit of a Breeders vibe from that, too, and I also thought it sounded kinda cool.
