Indeed. I was in Central CA myself this weekend. It's amazingly beautiful. Joshua Tree next weekend and possibly Santa Cruz and the bay area the week after. I'm following you I guess. I don't have much interest at all in Aberdeen or Twin Peaks (at least not for the TV show nostalgia) though.

not a shrine per se, more just people writing GP related stuff on the rocks

And for the complete GP experience, you could have booked a night in Room 8 at the Joshua Tree Inn which is where he overdosed and died. The room is decorated with GP, Byrds, FBB memorabilia and goes for $108 per night.
