Really want to check out that new Bobby Womack.

I sampled a bit of it on Spotify yesterday. Sounds pretty darn good.
I need to give it a dedicated listen, though.

Don't feel too bad Bob. I haven't even heard a single album from that list.

I've heard 2 (Spiritualized and Frank Ocean). I'm the winner so far!

Depends on your perspective, one might argue that I'm the winner.

Afraid not. I'm not familiar with him or that album. FWIW, it got a really good review from the blog where I originally heard about Daniel Romano:

new daniel romano comes out next week or something too, right?

but you should listen to the original Del Rio, Texas album on Spotify - think you would love it.

I dunno if anyone is interested, but I made some Spotify playlists with all the albums from the lists posted so far (at least, those available on Spotify--which is a much higher percentage than I expected).

Metal/harder stuff
http://open.spotify.com/user/sirtheory/ ... L8rWsBsnuR

Hip-Hop/Rap stuff
http://open.spotify.com/user/sirtheory/ ... 1e09Eel1x8

Everything else (aka, the more "work-friendly" genres)
http://open.spotify.com/user/sirtheory/ ... bp1vmGEqpd

I plan on updating these as more lists are posted.

there are quite a few excellent records on the NME list (Frank Ocean, LIARS, Ariel Pink) and they got their #1 right that's for sure.

Note that you have to click next page to see #51-75.

Disappointed that John Murry didn't make their list. Allan Jones, the editor, is a big fan. I'd assume he ranked him high but I guess their other critics didn't.

the Pond/TI albums are both fine but I thought the TI album was good
but just not as good as Innerspeaker, Pond were fantastic live earlier this year
when they played in a tiny pub in Milton Keynes, however TI will soon be
as big as Kings of Leon, headlining Reading and being attacked by pigeons etc

Ridiculous... the average age of the artists in the top ten is social security eligible. On the other hand about 30 of these will make my list. This, I perceive, is related.

I've listened to less music than any time in the last 10 years, I think. I've heard the Cohen (good, but I expect that), Alabama Shakes (good, but not a kidney punch), Sun Kil Moon (I cannot say that I remember anything about it), and First Aid Kit (probably the best thing going for me).

I have a new Iris DeMent release on the stereo rack that I bought about 2 months ago, and haven't even played it. I picked up both volumes of The 1861 Project, a various artists project about the Irish in the Civil War. David Olney contributes on the 2nd Vol. Love it. I didn't know Simone Felice had a new thing out. That interests me.

The rest of the Uncut list seems either yawnable, or on the wrong pond, or both.
