As a f'rinstance, I recall reading, in Newsweek, about a year-and-one-half ago, that the youth culture in Japan has taken the American concept of the fuck-buddy and expanded it to fuck-circle. Everybody is doing everybody, but no rise in VD yet. And, though, yes, I know this should be a receipe for disaster -- see, AIDS, and seventies gay-coke-disco subculture that preceded it --, assuming proper protection is made, and that, in general, HIV/AIDS rate remains extremely low in Japan (less than two percent, I believe; compare that to South Africa's 10 or more percent), things should be OK. (Of course, that is the lowest on the three-tierd OK-mmmKay-Otay scale, but still, decent enough.)
