Haven't seen it mentioned, but we kinda always do it. Individual threads? One consolidated thread? Why bother?

I always learn of a lot of great music from the Obner year-end lists. Please post one if you're so inclined.

I'll probably do one eventually. But I'm never very quick on these things.

Absolutely there should be year-end lists... I think in recent years have each one posting the list and having Obner responses following - sometimes only 3-4 responses, sometimes a couple pages - has worked. The lists are one of the 3-4 reasons why Obner still exists. Although I don't approve of making decisions about relative merit and positioning until after the first of the year, not before 3-4 of January. If I get the energy I was thinking I might do some Shmoo-poll simulated consolidated list.

The waltz of diminishing returns and peaceful resolutions...

Was gonna do mine today, but got sidetracked. I dig the separate threads, so you can comment on each list.

I have kind of gotten away from making lists just because I tend to think naming a year's "best" is more a matter of taste and the faux objectivity of so many lists gets on my nerves. That said, I'm bound to at least post about the stuff I liked and listened to most this year even if I don't rank them or anything like that, and I like checking out other lists for stuff I missed out on hearing.

I feel like we've been keeping running tabs all year, but I guess that a single, final list is kinda nice too
And, being a geek, I am always up for another list. I'm in and I am anticipating all of yours.

I could probably come up with 10 or so - especially since Derris sent me the new T.I. for Christmas. That and Big Boi are rounding out my year.

Separate threads for sure; y'all start firing them off when ready.

I'll post my full list, good and bad, whenever I can get myself to stop finding more stuff from 2012 to listen to.

Really good year, I think. Lots to take in that I'll still be digesting over the coming years.

I'm with you on it being a good year. So many albums I gave a couple of listens to that caught my ear, just to have another come along and catch it a little more emphatically.

Album I can't stand that seems to be getting traction on lists: Alt-J. How the hell can anyone stand those vocals for more than 10 seconds is beyond me.

I listened to a few seconds of it, and unlike Purity Ring, I've managed to pretty much avoid Alt-J. Gonna try to keep it that way.

Purity Ring is the one getting high praise that I really can't stand.
