baby, chase don't do watches. still, i like your style. pick out some black shoes and i'll buy'em. i want these to be the pair of shoes that i wear when i crush my first spirit, so make'em count. they need to look good when my underlings are lickin'em.

My aforementioned first pair of J&M's have killer "bitch heels". I sound like the SS when I'm walking on tile.

chase - those are good. i don't recommend going in the direction that squirrgle did unless you plan on generally wearing chic attire - it looks dumb to wear shoes that are proactively stylish with a bland business casual outfit. the ones you posted presume a lot less.

yeah but you work in what is more or less a creativity-encouraging environment, i'm selling out like nobody's business and entering a corporate world that will devour my soul in minutes, at least for the summer.

What is this job? I lasted 15 months at a soul-sucking corporate job - fancy a wager?

chase, there are times when i have to suit up, and i wear these. not only are they a hell of a lot more comfortable than most "dress shoes", they still look slick with corporate attire.

kenneth cole will work for you as well.

Yup. Those shoes are reserved for special occasions. I work in tennis shoes and a Bloor-approved short sleeve button-down.

well this is just a 12 week internship, unlessi can drag it out, so i expect that you'd win, or lose, as the case may be.

Chase, the ones you picked out are fine.

I really like these Billze. I've had my eye on a pair of wingtips for a long time, but a dude I worked for a few years ago gave me a nice pair of close-soled Italian leather cap toes, and those work well when I really haveto step it up.

Cotton -- Brooks Bros Outlets or Jos. A Bank are my reccomendations. Banks always has sales, and since I am HUGE I like them better, as they cary clothes from Otto the Tent Maker that don't look they were designed by George Foreman. As I said, I dress conservatively.

Oh, and as for ironing -- Dry Clean 'em. I like Medium starch, and you can wear a shirt 2-3 times before it needs cleaning/pressing again.

I think those will be fine Chase; How much were they, btw?

Rockports are notoriously comfortable.

Yep, Zappos is renown for being a good shoe retailer. Should be safe. Those shoes look perfect for what you're describing. Corporate!

those boots I posted above were like $85 on Zappos; when they didnt have them in black I just googled "Nunn Bush boots". I ended up getting them for $65 through shop.com. (I can't remember the actual retailer, but I know that they were located in Boston, and I had the boots in like 3 days)

i

i told you i had to run out and get a pair of shoes for myself, didn't i? zero luck.

i like what you've chosen. it's a good place to start. i still think you should have checked out kenneth cole but they are pricier. you can go there if this thing takes off for you. the thing that's good about these is that they have the double stitching on top and a slightly squared toe which are both fashionable (see k.cole shoes.)

job well done.

oh yeah, buy some cool socks to coordinate with your suit or whatever you end up with.

This is what I wear to work everyday, just a shade lighter on the brown. Of course, I'm just a simple teacher, not a highbrow yuppie intern.

those are cool. why do people think they only need to have two pairs of shoes--work and play? in fact, i bet most guys have more sneakers than regular shoes. except for the senator. i gotta feeling he's a clothing/shoe horse.

I try to be, for sure. If I had more money, I'd be more money, haha.

I have 5 suits. Gray and Navy, a Navy Pinstripe, Seersucker and Tan Brushed Cotton Broadcloth (I want another one of these in another color ASAP)

And I have probably 10-12 pairs of shoes...but I usually go on kicks where I wear the shit out of a pair, so most of them are not in as great shape as I would like.

I am also just pretentious enough to have most of my sleeves monogrammed.

My simple rules for not dressing like a run of the mill fuckup:

Wear an undershirt. No one is interested in seeing your nipples.
No prints on said undershirt. No one gives a fuck that you went to Red Eyes Dock Bar once.
Match socks to pants. Some say shoes is okay, I disagree.
Wear a belt.. No arguing.
Match shoes to belt. Both color and lustre.
No short sleeves shirt with ties. Homer Simpson nor Sipowicz you're not.
No button down collars with ties. I may be in the minority on this, but it drives me crazy. The buttons under the collar you can't see don't bother me though.

And when you get these new shoes, polish them regularly. You can pick up the shit at the grocery store, I often use old t-shirts or socks for buffing since I always lose the foam applicator things.

Polish 'em up, take some cottonballs and daub water on the shoes, then buff again. Repeat a couple times and they will look like you get to fire people for sport.

These are ALL on my list. And I rarely tuck in my shirt. But my belt and shoes still match. Tucking in your shirt without a belt is one of mine, Busty, and LooGars seven deadly sins (yes weare looking at YOU Jerry Seinfeld)

what's the deal with button-down collars not working with ties?

i love the tucked in t-shirt, no belt, white sneaker look. it rears its ugly head from time to time around here.
