WANTED: dreamy and lonesome roadhouse-ish tunes with lots of reverb, lyrics and wanderlust angst...

making a mix, and here's what i got so far:

I'm Deranged - David Bowie (doesn't really fit the aural description, but works for other reasons)
Last Train to Satansville - Swervedriver
Stoney Lonesome - Yawning Man
Dub Driving - Angelo Badalamenti
Duel Overhead Cam - Starflyer 59
Snake Mountain Blues - The Walkabouts
Untitled - Social Distortion
Dust to Dust - Chromatics
When the Sun Hits - Slowdive

i want a sound image of abandoned phillips gas stations, $30 motels with burnt out signs, long stretches of nothing except rocks and brush, sad casino lights in the distance...

I think this'll fit the bill nicely:

A great song is a great song.
Here's another. Not "roadhouse" so much, but it is lonely. Should work:

Yeah, he used to post over in another music forum. We like some of the same bands, so we've been to see a couple of live shows together.

Ok, acquaintance. :ashamed:

Last Train to Satansville doesn't seem to quite jibe with the aesthetic you're looking for. At least not in my head.

You looking for more Twin Peaks-ish vibe?

Maybe not roadhouse enough, but certainly Twin Peaks-ish:

kind of the bridge between all that. that zone between driving fast on a deserted I-10 (Last Train to Satansville) and sunset over the sierra nevadas (the sadies).

americana mysterioso

or something

Always thought that song would be great on the right movie soundtrack.
Although, Wes Anderson (of course) already has used a great BF song (perfectly, of course) on the soundtrack to one of his flicks (The Fantastic Mr. Fox).
