The band and song features in my 1989 'Heavy Metal Chart', a sort of prototype Konstantiranks but with no empirical element whatsoever and composed on the daily, sometimes twice daily, whim of a dreamy teenager who's only access to music was Tom Russell's Rock Show on a Friday night and an MTV style heavy metal video programme called 'The Power Hour' presented by the titillatingly named rock goddess Nicki Grewcock.

Here, presented for Rick, is White Lion's highest chart placing in my chart and probably anywhere, ever. The list is dopey, the penmanship equivalent to that of a hoofed animal, the spelling unique, it represents the zenith, some say the apogee, of my teenage awkwardness.

Wonderfully nerdly Konsty. I applaud the baring of one's soul. But, you'd be wrong about it placing this high elsewhere. It reached #3 on the US Billoard Hot 100 in early 1989. Extra points for the previous week's chart position.

Quid pro quo. In the Spring of 1990, Faster Pussycat released a video for "House of Pain" that debuted at #10 on Dial MTV.

The next day in Drafting class, I told Cameron Whaley that it would be #1 by next week. I was later told by a friend in that class that Cameron told them "when has Derris ever predicted anything. I wouldn't hold my breath".

1 week later.................."House of Pain" hits #1.
