Dr. Drew was the intake MD at the third of my six in-patient rehabs. It takes what it takes. Every time I see him on TV I remember with some embarassment the prostate exam, but also remember that, despite his celeb-centric persona, he was passionate about recovery; I remember his pitch to me about "sometimes it will feel like you are about to die, but you need to walk through the discomfort and fear if you are going to live..."

Seems like most of the ones that crop up here are disease, old age, some kind of accident...

I've lost a couple of kids over the years, one to brain cancer, another to bone cancer, a couple to overdose, some drunk driving accidents, one skateboard accident, i can't keep them all straight anymore.

I guess suicide shouldn't feel different but it does to me. Let me think about it some and i'll get back to you.

And yeah, it's always inappropriate, but I'm a bad person and that's why God won't let me die.
