Like it a whole lot better than the previous two. They're actually learning to sing, play, and write, which means there'll be a backlash against it.

I didn't like the previous two, either, despite descriptions that should have made me a believer. Guess I'll check it.

The Men - on first listen: not as good as Open Your Heart

Apparat - this is great.

Jackie Mittoo & the Soul Vendors: Evening Time

Still on a reggae kick. This is Jackie Mittoo's first solo outing, great ska instrumentals with a strong soul/r&b influence. Booker T & the MGs on an island. Basically I love just about anything Mittoo has touched, but this one still manages to stand out to me.

Touch: 30 Years & Counting

30 year anniversary album for Touch Records, featuring exclusive work from Fennesz, Vainio, Jeck, Eleh, Chris Watson and more. 2xLP set split into 4 side-long tracks of relaxed drone, ambient noise, field recordings and the like. Really top notch for this sort of thing. And an excellent way to nurse this afternoon's hangover. And if you're into vinyl, the pressing on this is extremely nice, very quiet, nice gatefold packaging. Best thing from 2012 I have finally got around to hearing in 2013.
