Was gonna start a SXSW post....

my wife is in the middle of a girlfriends 'turning 40' trip to Cancun....
since i turned 40 last year, and didn't ask or really want anything, I decided that 2014 is the year I make it down to SXSW.

so serious, in that I want to book my room as soon as possible...Obviously I want to be within walking distance of all the action...so i need all your help....

Can I book my hotel room a year in advance? If I recall, 6th Street is pretty much where it all happens...Any hotels preferred over any others or are they all basically the same? I can grab my flight whenever...I can get my badge when they go on sale as well... Hopefully I still have enough cache in the metal world to make it into all the secret/special hi-profile shows....

but I am definitely doing it....your advice is welcomed.....

The Courtyard and Hilton are both pretty much perfectly located for access to 6th Street. Others will have recommendations I'm sure but those are the two that I have stayed in and can personally recommend.

I'd need to know the backstory on what exactly was the original conflict but given the dude's general actions and posturing, not to mention hitting the one guy who clearly was ready to diffuse things............I'd say he 98% deserved it.

The dude definitely deserved it, but it was a bit of a sucker punch. The guy who threw the punch should have tapped him to get the drunk bro to turn around before hitting him. I realize that's nitpick-y though.

Also, I've never been in a fight so what do I know.
