What's the story there? I saw someone on Twitter say something to the effect of "Kerry King is running Slayer into the ground"

Mostly this.

Though I guess this as well...

Quote:
While Jeff Hanneman was on medical leave, Slayer had Gary Holt to play for Hanneman in live sessions. In an interview, King stated that he would be fine with Gary Holt replacing Hanneman for both live and recording sessions. "If he comes back and says "I'm ready to play", and if he's good enough...". The last few words struck rage in several fans. Gary Holt has yet to comment on the subject.

I knew about the Gary Holt thing (which frankly seems sort of reasonable considering Hanneman's uncertain medical condition), but the Lombardo part sounds like...stuff that happens all the time though I guess not really to Slayer since they've essentially had the same lineup for 30 years. Shitty.

The days when I could count myself as a "fan" of Slayer are long past, but I've always dug their work ethic and influence.

Just saw that Bloor. He was looking pretty bloated in the last several years. Still sucks.
