Yup, got my preorder in and looking forward to this one. I think they waited out the expectations a bit. A few years back when people were clamoring for a new one expectations would have been high. Now, I just think things have died down a bit so they get more of a clean slate.

It was your "remember the 90s" thread that tipped me off to its release. I completely missed the memo.

I don't think I even listened to the last BoC album more than once or twice, but if that "transmission" clip is indicative of the sound for this one, I'm interested. It seems a little like the dark cinematic feel of stuff like Demdike Stare and Haxan Cloak.

I am sorta unimpressed. I suppose "dated" is unfair, but I keep drifting off with it... and not in the good-drift way. Kinda boring.

I have and enjoy the Campfire Headphase...

as for the youtube clip above, if i had known nothing about the band going in, I would have shut it off about 45 seconds in....too long of a shitty intro before the minimalist BOC 'sound' makes itself known....

fans of this and genre, may enjoy a band i am looking to do some future stuff with on my label...

The Killimanjaro Dark Jazz ensemble and their alter ego, The Mout Fuji DoomJazz corporation.... everything they have done can be streamed at their bandcamp page, http://shop.tkde.net/

I love it, but I'm a fairly big fan. It more or less splits the difference between the moodiness of Geogaddi and the lightness of their earlier stuff with a few nods to more modern electronic music blended in. It really doesn't have a lot new to it, but I mean these guys pretty much created this sound so I figure they are allowed to continue to revisit it and as craftsmen they're a damn sight better than most similar musicians that churn out product these days. I think it is a step up from Campfire Headphase, which for me has been their weakest release even though I still enjoyed it.
