Like most people I spend way too much time on YouTube and recently I've been watching the Amoeba record store 'What's In My Bag' videos and came across this one of J. Mascis.



I can only compare it to someone trying to interview a tortoise that has a heavy cold. It's pretty funny. I especially like the bit when he stops talking for about 10 seconds having seemingly fallen asleep.

Somehow, I'm not sure why exactly, I have a lot more respect for J. Mascis than I had before I saw this.

Maybe it's because he's the complete antithesis of what a rock star should be, maybe because he's perhaps coveting and protecting some tremendously satisfying inner life from public view or maybe just cos I like tortoises.

In between each pause Lou Barlow writes a song.

I've always been amazed that he dated Uma Thurman.

He reminds me of Toby Turtle in the Disney Robin Hood film


I love J. though. I've seen him solo, with Dino, and with Witch and he never fails to entertain.

he failed to entertain me solo, but dino old and reboot original lineup were incredible.
