You staying with somebody or somewhere commercial? I enjoyed the place 3 weeks back.

Aaah. Well, enjoy the in-house-pickled-veggie plates and charcuterie boards. Because they are everywhere.

I should be in Portland during that time as well. Probably going to the coast (Seaside) on Friday.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

No they're delicious. But after the 7th place that had them, we just noticed it was a serious, serious trend. That's the thing about Portland - they take something fairly new and interesting, and then do it in 452 places in town. Gluten free food and beers, teeny tiny micro breweries, charcuterie, all of it. It's all delicious and awesome, but there's something weird about it being ubiquitous in one place. I don't really understand my own reaction to it.

No I get your drift completely. I love all of those things you listed (with the exception of gluten free), but too much of it sounds...tedious.

When the server guy at bar/restaurant/bottle shop Seraveza is telling you that other peoples pickled veggie plates aren't really pickled because they don't do the in-house fermentation properly, you've entered some kind of other realm. And Portlandia suddenly starts to seem slightly less like comedy and slightly more like documentary.

Sure it's tedious at times, but its pretty easy to stay out of that whole thing and have a good time and eat/drink well. Plus it's better than the alternative, I guess.

Portland was, like, so incredibly easy to enjoy that I just didn't know what to do with myself.

I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I lived in a place where, when I saw two or more white people talking, I didn't immediately think, "Those people are talking about how much they fucking hate Obama"
