I was watching the Miami/Jacksonville game and Miami looked pretty out of it--went to an actual baseball game (minor leagues, yeah!) and when I get back see that Miami won. Weird.

Also, the starting pitcher for TCU didn't go out after 3 batters yesterday, I think they pull that win off. Just my gut. Bummer to see them out of the tourney.

Before Promethium can get to it:

Georgia mounted by Beaver(s) and are eliminated.

Long, tough season but at least they didn't roll over after getting beat Friday.

Arizona State knocked out Arkansas as well...

Biggest upsets so far... TCU & Oklahoma both out of their regional. Georgia Tech & Rice both gone. Cal State Fullerton out early.

Other teams that need to win today to avoid being out earlier than expected... Texas, Clemson, Texas A&M, South Carolina & Florida State (although S.C. & FSU are still in good shape as they will have two chances to win one game).

Florida State, South Carolina & Texas have all survived into the Super-Regional round. Still some deciding games tonight in the other regionals.

Almost down to the "Sweet 16", if you will...

Super-Regionals
Virginia (#1 overall seed) will play UC-Irvine
Baylor/California winner will play Dallas Baptist/Oral Roberts winner
South Carolina (#4 overall seed) will play Clemson/Connecticut winner (a northeast team still playing?!!?... way to go UConn!)
Florida State (#5 overall seed) will play Texas A&M/Arizona winner
North Caroilna (#3 overall seed) will play Stanford
Vanderbilt (#6 overall seed) will play Oregon State
Florida (#2 overall seed) will play Mississippi State
Texas (#7 overall seed) will play Arizona State

So Rice (#8) is the only favorite to make the CWS that has lost.

Gerit Cole of UCLA was the first pick in the MLB draft as expected.
Husker Football and Baseball recruit Bubba Starling went #5 to the Royals. He and his agent want at least six million from KC in order to prevent him from ever playing a down of college football. I doubt he will ever put on a Husker Football uniform. He'll be another Carl Crawford for the Huskers.

CWS... six of eight teams in.

Florida (#2 overall seed)
North Carolina (#3 overall seed)
South Carolina (#4 overall seed)
Vanderbilt (#6 overall seed)
Texas (#7 overall seed)
California

Other two teams will be the winners of...

Virginia (#1 overall seed) vs. UC-Irvine
Florida State (#5 overall seed) vs. Texas A&M

So, it's possible 7 of 8 top overall seeds will make the CWS...

Congrats to the UCLA Bruins on winning their first CWS title. The Pac-12 has won the most titles, but most of them belong to USC.
I thoroughly enjoyed this years CWS. All of the top seeds lost out early, and none of the perennial winners made it to the Championship series.
I would have liked to seen my Huskers make a regional, since they had a top 30 RPI, but I understand the rule that doesn't allow a team with a losing record into the NCAA Baseball tournament.

P.S.
Harry, If you read this, I read that the Huskers and UCLA are wearing alternate uniforms for their game in Lincoln this fall.

Was glad to see NC State make it to Omaha for the first time in 45 years. Sadly, after beating UNC in their first game, it was very predictable that they would have lost their next and then have to play UNC again only to get knocked out. It was a fun run while it lasted though.

Yup, the rivalry is a great one... and friendly. It's always notable on Bruin boards how they always say that Huskers fans are the classiest. This game is a real measure of UCLA... had Mora really taken them back to being a national power? If so they need beat Huskers on the road. Losing three games at the end of last season created some doubts.
