I've never been a huge Soul Asylum fan but I've always liked them, at least a bit.
And Murphy may not have been their most-prolific writer, but he did write the best song that the band ever recorded.

It's one of the few songs that I can believe would actually change somebody's life. Especially in 1988.

I kinda thought the same thing. But it looks like they just put out a new album this year.

I was a big SA fan in my youth, and it's sad to hear a guy like Murphy leave music with such apparent disillusionment, but the band's sort of been living on borrowed time for awhile. I'm a little tempted to listen to the latest one though, now that I know it exists -- sounds like a bit of a return to form.

Yeah, sounds like he was, like, frustrated incorporated.

As much as I empathize with the reasons behind his disillusionment, Soul Asylum could've helped themselves a whole bunch by putting out albums that didn't wholly suck. New one included.
