Mostly his hatred of some shows is self loathing, because it really bothers him that he likes things targeted at younger kids. Any chance to call someone else a stupid baby is projection. It's a downer, really, though I do think his letter and top ten list were a gem.

The guy at work I play with quit work, but found a drummer and a bassist. They like to play out on street corners, which kinda terrifies me. I've been so pampered, playing with people are really fucking good over the years, so I sorta skipped that stage where you eek it out on the streets for nickels.

I expect a cooler of beer and a quiet, stinky room backstage.

Well, not sweet like your potential beer gig. But I am trying to get out of college teaching and an engineering firm in town offered me high-paid part time work for non-teaching days this semester, and if I like them and they like me a RealJob come January. Easy commute, nice folks, useful work, and even if they don't love me a good resume line.

Not something my kid does, but my redneck cousins. This one in particular I have a fondness for, he's a great guy in a lot of ways, but backwards as a motherfucker. I just ... don't react, and I think he returns the favor, when either of us posts something the other would clearly not approve of. We talk about knowing where your food comes from, things that ferment, classic cars, and respect for animals. That's the "in common" pile. Everything else is pretty much outside that pile.
