Long term I would want to move them somewhere easier to get to for visitors. They LOVE to interact with customers, which is another reason I like them so much. They just need to make it easier to get there without a car.

it's probably harder to start a brewery in Boston proper. Trillium has been open about a year now and they can't even get licensed for tastings.

But isn't that the dream for ALL upstart brewing companies? Maybe not the biking but certainly becoming a tourist location.

I mean, Sweetwater was in a shitty location way out Fulton Industrial Blvd for around 7-8 years before moving into their current (read:great) location in the Midtown area.

I certainly hope it's their dream. I don't mind biking half an hour to North Crackton, but man to be able to bike closer and through better parts of town would be awesome. My god, what a life...

Agreed. I think everyone starts out in an unattractive, industrial, and somewhat remote area to keep rent to a minimum. I can't think of anyone in LA who that isn't true for.

I've pimped the Food is the New Rock podcast in the podcast thread. The basic format is they have a weekly guest who is usually either a musician or a chef and they ask musicians about food and chefs about music. Last week's guest though was Sam Calagione, founder of Dogfish Head. They talked about the collaboration beers he's done with musicians and their families (eg Bitches Brew, Positive Contact, American Beauty), his short lived Rap Band, Craft Beer, Musicians who have played at the pub, etc etc. It's a pretty interesting listen and can be found here:

http://foodisthenewrock.libsyn.com/dogf ... -calagione

Tried another new beer last night:

The Dudes - Grandma's Pecan English Brown

Pretty meh. Not terrible by any stretch but nothing I'd ever seek out again. Seemed like a decent idea but the underlying brown ale was just ok and I couldn't detect much Pecan flavor at all. I've heard pretty mediocre things about their beers in general. They are very new so maybe they'll improve but I doubt I'll try anything else from them unless I start to hear better things about them.

Drinking 21st Ammend's "Hop Crisis" cans right now, which is a DIPA aged on oak spirals. I'm less impressed than last time. Honest to god my Doubleish is probably better, for my taste. I'm telling you, if I get this recipe refined right I could be on to something.

Oh and Night Shift wrote the 12 of us to say that interviews dragged on til today (a day late), and they hope to have an answer by next week, the 18th. FUCK I cannot wait that long. Will be incredibly hard to keep anything else on my brain.

I'm not going to get it, and that's ok, and I will find some other way to do this. I will find some other way.

29 memberships remain for Wakefield's startup brewery through CrowdBrewed. This guy does the best Weisse's I've ever tasted and his sours are supposed to be top flight as well (Miami Madness rated #1 on RateBeer for sours I believe). Only thing, you need a proxy to ship you the beers. They said they would help you find one if you needed it.

$300 is real paper though.

So is this you just preparing for the worst or did they actually call and say you didn't get it?

Also, picked up some Pumpkin beers this week; Dogfish, New Belgium, Terrapin.

Still waiting on the Weyerbacher release and for the highs to actually start topping out at below 80 degrees before I drink 'em.

Come on Fall. Get on with it.

Yeah man, still too soon for me. Is there a release date for Weyerbacher? I remember there being a lot more of it last year but I haven't seen any yet.

I just picked some up today but I've seen it in stores for the last couple weeks.

The Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin has been out for at least two weeks. I skipped out on an event for it last Friday, since I have consumed it many times beforehand. Plus, I've been drinking more Oktoberfest beers this year than I have been pumpkin beers.

I haven't seen them in any of my shops yet but I'm hoping to find them.

I saw that a beer store in East LA got these in a few days ago. I've been tempted to make a run but was hoping somewhere closer in a neighborhood more known to me will get them in soon. I'll probably regret not making the run if I never find them.

Made a run to East LA over the weekend and scored those three Gentlemen's Club beers and a Pumpkin Porter by Alaskan.

Also had a Cuvee Des Jacobins from Brouwerij Bockor on tap last week. Really fantastic and probably the best Flanders Ale I've ever had.

I did not get the job. Shit. Came down to me and 2 others, which... Out of 150 that's flattering but I don't care, I wanted to get it.

Seriously. With small(er) breweries gaining so much popularity, to get that close is impressive.

A few new beers to mention

Friday night:
Stone Espresso Russian Imperial Stout: Pretty damn good. The ABV clearly matched the hop profile, and it was a rather formidable beer.

Today:
Sierra Nevada Flipside Red IPA: Not bad. It grew on me, but my first taste of this beer was downright nasty. It seemed out of balance, but it definitely mellowed.

Sorry you didn't get it but hey, Idle Hands next door is hiring. Maybe you could help them make better beer?
