This is so terrible / awesome / terrible.

Strangely, after guzzling JD and 30 minutes of squealing and high-kicking, DLR is beginning to sound and act ok. I'm guessing he'd just been dragged out of a bed or something.

- Extended "hold the mic out to the crowd" sequence before the whiskey chugging. Like, several minutes of it. Awkward.

- holy fucking shit the midget butler who brings out whiskey.

- Holy fucking shit the mini half-sized les paul at minute 33 or so. WTF?

- A LOT of things get thrown up at them on stage. Jesus it's raining shoes and hats and clothing. It must've looked like a St Vincent DePaul's exploded on stage afterwards.

- Bass synth solo around minute 39, complete with incredible Michael Anthony Antics.

- Love it when the photogs get in the background of the shot at the edge of the stage... seeing them manually focus Canon AE-1's or whatever those were with gigantic old flashes is awesome. Shit used to be much harder.

- Technical difficulties mean a long, long space to fill for DLR by bantering. How many times can he end a sentence with "bay BAY?"

The audience and the band seemed to think they did a great job, which confirms every suspicion I've had about the band and their audience.

the guitar is definitely a half step lower than everything else, but i think it's interesting that all of the vocals, including evh's bgvs are in tune with the canned keyboard.

So I'm guessing the tech handed him the wrong guitar, which was tuned down a half step. Not much he can do without a capo there.

VERY close to the time I saw them live (Austin in '84), and seeing this REALLY takes me back.
