So far, this is a pretty great year. I don't know how I'll eventually squeeze so many great releases into a top 30.

And I still have to spend more time with new Neko, Okkervil River, King Krule, Califone, Eddie Spaghetti, and Over the Rhine, although liking what I hear with all of 'em. I expect a lot from the upcoming Bad Sports too.

The rankings are fluid, changing as I listen more (or less) through the year. Like, the Jacuzzi Boys continue to drop and the Dirtbombs and James Younger keep rising (OH DEY HOCK MOVGERGS). The dust'll settle at the end of the year.

FWIW, that new Deer Tick is easily my favorite release by them, but it's doubtful it'll stay so high.

The new Deer Tick starts strong and sort of tails off for me. Need to listen more because the songs I like, I really like.

I'm really liking that Haim record.

Think Chvrches may end up my album of the year.

Vampire Weekend is close.

I think it's only the last 3 songs where it tails off and even then there's parts of those songs that i like.

3 songs = 25% of the album.

I'm really surprised by how much I like the new Okkervil River. I haven't dug something by them this much in a long time.

I only gave it one, half-hearted listen. I will have to get back to it.

The new Lee Renaldo album is really good.

That autechre is a challenging listen.

My top album so far is the Moore brothers - California sister

I've got it on Dropbox if you want. Riyl: California bedroom pop with lots of harmonies.

Looks like a few bands by that name, but this is the one you want. Also, doesn't look like there's a bandcamp.

That sounds pretty nice. A little Simon & Garfunkel-y in places, but some interesting harmonies and arrangements on a lot of the album tracks. A familiar, comforting sound, but they seem to add a little character of their own. I'm just kinda basing this on listening to some samples. I will probably check out the whole thing later.

It's on emusic, if anybody here still uses that:
http://www.emusic.com/album/the-moore-b ... /13946231/

And I guess that Autechre is a challenging listen if you're not really accustomed to listening to recent Autechre stuff. Because really it's just a whole lot of Autechre.
