How is there not a thread for this? I'm only on episode 3, so no spoilers, but I'm addicted. I do get a little annoyed by Chole's constant proselytizing, but I know why it's there. I've also read that it's hypothesized to be a continuation of Robert Chambers - "The King in Yellow", but I'm not about to read that book.

I couldn't make it through the first episode before falling asleep but I've come around on it.

It's certainly well directed. If you haven't seen it yet, the end of whatever episode where Chole goes undercover, has a 6 minute long tracking shot that is impressive just for cinematic dorkery.

I haven't seen last Sunday's ep yet.

Chole's character is just so over the top that it's easily mockable. Case in point:

At the very least, there is Haralson's slampiece.........ZOMG.

I want to see this but do not have HBO. Will just buy the Blu-ray eventually.

Speaking of one-off detective shows, did anyone else watch Britsh show Broadchurch with David Tennant? Currently being remade for the US...with David Tennant.

The original Broadchurch is so awesome that, of course, they're remaking it here. Tennant was terrific but really hard to understand.

It's not perfect but I've really enjoyed it. Interested to see where this goes.

this show is BAD ASS

McConaughey is absolutely killing it of late, between this, DBC, Mud, Wolf of Wall Street, etc.

i've been very impressed with how good this has been just five episodes in.

my only real gripe is that rust and marty are so central that every other character comes off as sort of flat (except for lisa, of course).

Watched the first five episodes this week and I'm hooked. Hard to remember the last time I was looking forward to a show airing this much.

More greatness in this week's episode, from the viscerally raw and brutal parking lot brawl to the extremely calculated matrimonial detonation. Really looking forward to the last two episodes, especially given how this one ended.

Seriously. No clue which way this thing is gonna go.

I'm kind of hoping for a concrete conclusion but I don't think we're going to get it. I can easily see some open ended "we can never truly know what happened" sort of thing.

Or more like a Chole-esque "the girls have gone to the space between spaces".

Loving this show as well, and now that we know that Rust and Marty reunite in 2012 I'm really interested to see where they go in the final 2 episodes. And yes to both the sidepiece and the 6 minute tracking shot.

I hope they wrap it up satisfyingly since it's an anthology series and next year will be a completely new story. Speaking of which, did you see the #TrueDetectiveSeason2 meme from last week?

Here are a few: http://www.hitfix.com/whats-alan-watchi ... iveseason2

Have yet to take the plunge on True Detective, but I wanted to put in a big ol' +1 for Broadchurch. Not sure how I feel about a remake: Tennant was fantastic, but I have a harder time seeing anybody but Colman as Miller.
