Any of y'all into them? Like, into the serious ones, not just those Jaycees things, but the really pro ones with movie-quality sets and special effects and real actors and such.

I'm not so much, but my (15-year-old) son is way into them.
He just went to Rob Zombie's Great American Nightmare over the weekend and came out really disappointed.
"Not scary."
He was pretty bummed because he was looking forward to it so much.

Last year we travelled to St. Louis (from Chicago area) to go to The Darkness, and THAT one was pretty great. Even worth the 5-hour trip for him.
It was the only one of the bunch that I went through with him, and it was pretty cool.

In a close second was probably Statesville Haunted Prison

And, I almost forgot:
Raven's Grin Inn!
It's not all that scary. Or, at least, it's not your traditional haunted house, in that it's not bloody/gory and there are no actors. But it's an actual old house (where your tour guide lives), that is supposedly actually haunted. The owner has built all sorts of crazy contraptions that you go into and through, as you tour his home and he tells you all about the history of the place and of actual supernatural encounters that he has had while living there.

It's more a funhouse with a crazy tour guide than anything else, but it is a TON of fun and well-worth a visit if you find yourself anywhere near Mr. Carroll, IL.

We've made the 3-hour trip out there from our house at least 5 or 6 times already. And our boys are always willing to make another trip and bring friends along.
It's pretty awesome.

Video will give you a pretty good idea of what you're in for:

So, who else digs the haunts?
What are your favorites?

we have Necropolis here in indy, but haunted houses freak me the fuck out so i have no idea if it's good or not and won't be finding out soon.

i remember one from when i was really little...it was in this huge house and you had a tour guide, back story and everything. he took you room to room in what seemed like a neverending tour and told you the whole story as you went through. the house was old and smelled like spoiled milk. this was back in the mid/early 80s, before the flux of super realistic gore houses, so it seemed pretty remarkable.

It wasn't the one in Illinois, on the IA border?
The one that I posted the video for? Sounds pretty similar.

I love them but haven't been to one in forever.

I went through one when I was about 13 with my sister. It was a local one that was inside a former Friendly's, I believe. My sister got scared in the 2nd room that had a strobe light and was all mirrored and some dude jumped out of nowhere and scared her and she pulled me through the rest of the place and I didn't get to really see anything. I was rather upset.

There was one I wanted to go to in Niagara Falls that was supposed to be super scary but my parents wouldn't let me.

There was a camping trip around Portland somewhere that was supposedly like a slasher film and you had to "survive" the night but it was really expensive and the reviews weren't that great.

A lot of missed opportunities I guess.
