That Alvvays album is great. "Archie, Marry Me" is such a great, simple song.

Real Estate, Run the Jewels, and Shabazz Palaces are also good choices. I should check out that Mark McGuire album, and I will probably listen to D'Angelo eventually.

Agreed, that is by far my favorite. And there are a lot of other great songs too. I just love her voice.

I will say that while I've enjoyed songs off the last couple of Ryan Adams albums, none of them have been end of year favorites-worthy. But this one definitely is for me, and at times it has been my favorite album of the year. I love the little Ryan Adams renaissance that's been happening lately.

It's not groundbreaking, but the pairing of the voice with the beats just works for me.

Real Estate... another band I like against all my better instincts. I even saw them live and realized what shot-stuff dweebs they were, and I still listen to that.
